PSP 2019 Crop Tool Malfunctioning

Post by Steve T »

I've never had this issue before, but it's extremely frustrating. I use the crop tool on an enlarged picture, click on the side to modify the crop box and the picture and crop box move and the crop box is no longer around what I want to crop. A simple function like crop should not cause this much aggravation. Is there anything I can do to avoid the crop tool from having a mind of it's own? Thank You.

Like you I am suffering with this issue, but I have got it logged with support since Dec 11th and they assure me it’s a known issue and the development team are looking at it. No date for a planned fix unfortunately.

Here is a video of the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akBQ_K6 ... e=youtu.be

And whilst they’re at it, when you’ve an area currently with a crop mark and you hit ‘zoom’ can’t they make it so that zoom centres on the cropped area?! (Crop... zoom... pan!)

Thanks for the reply. It's reassuring to hear I'm not the only one dealing with this. Glad to hear the problem is logged in. Hope it doesn't take long to fix this bug.

I think it's a good idea for you to submit a support ticket even though they already know about it. They won't fix it if we don't complain.

I already complained in October. It is taking them awfully long to fix this issue. Maybe they are saving the fix for PSP 2020?

I am having exactly the same problem. Very annoying & makes it extremely difficult to crop a large image.

Hello PSP users,

Happy New Year! Thank you for your patient. In fact, we noticed this cropping issue in November of 2018 but the resource is very tight to resolve it in a short time. As you may know, we are working the next PSP version and do really spend all of our time on it. Finally, we got time to investigate this cropping issue and correct it. In order to make this error could be resolved soon, we would like to offer a hotfix through our customer service/support team. As long as the user reported a similar cropping issue and our customer service/support team will share the hotfix.

However, I would like to share the same hotfix here to the user who visited the forum frequently and ask your help to forward the hotfix to the user who encountered the same cropping issue as far as possible.

Please download the hotfix from the Dropbox link - https://www.dropbox.com/s/ryhdo3f96lk60 ... x.exe?dl=0

PS: Before you install the hotfix, please ensure your PSP2019 version is up-to-date. It means the update 1 was installed. If you still not install update 1 version, please visit (https://www.paintshoppro.com/en/support/updates/) to download it.

Thank you for all your attention and understanding. Let me know if you encounter any problem. :)

Cheers

It's MUCH better, thank you.

Just one thing... if I'm zoomed in 1000% or more now where I attempt to adjust the handles of the crop square that it isn't "fluid", i.e. you move it and release and the line doesn't follow it for a few moments; makes you work 'blind'.

The hotfix helps but the tool is still buggy. I expect/hope the developers test it thoroughly and correct its issues before the next release.

The crop tool insists on bringing the view to the center of the image. For example, say you had fitted the image to the window, usually a small zoom. Select crop and select a small crope area away from the center, say the top-right 1/8th. You then decide to zoom in to the crop location to refine the crop so you select the pan tool and adjust the zoom. When you then select crop tool again the image displays at its center and you have to navigate to the crop area you had selected earlier.

So say you had navigated to the crop and you decide to select a different tool before proceeding, say the paintbrush. The image presented does not move. Finish with the paintbrush and select the crop and the image goes right back to the center and you have to navigate again to where the crop is located.

I tried installing Update 1 and I get the message: "No update of your installed software is required at this time."
The About-Box should say if Update 1 is installed shouldn't it? It doesn't show that is is.

What is the full version number shown in "About"? It should be 21.1.0.22 -- where the second 1 indicates Update 1 has been installed.

I'm at 21.1.0.22 so I guess I did it already. I work with several computers so it's tough to keep track. :)

Installed the hot fix. Much better. But selecting the crop tool still causes the picture to recenter. It would be better if it just let the picture where it was.
