Re: PSP 7 folders appearing on desktop
Good try tlveik, but it didn't work. Darn Tubes folder right back on my desktop.
And the first line, where I removed Cache, it's back in there.
Second line reverted back to desktop after choosing a folder within my docs.
Need to look for my install disc.

It looks to me like the registry entries aren't being changed like they should be. Do you have administrator rights? If you run the program as administrator, maybe the settings changes will stick.
If you right click on the shortcut that runs the program and select "Run as administrator". Then make the changes and see if they stick.

Re: PSP 7 folders appearing on desktop
I installed an Evaluation copy of Jasc PSP7
File locations showed this:
Made a picture tube and exported as pink.tub
Tube showed up in tube selections
File Locations showed tubes stored at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Tubes
looked there and pink.tub could not be found.
Did a seach and found it at
C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Tubes
Prepared another tube
Prepared in Documents - Folder "JascPSP7" and sub folder "Tubes"
Set in file locations the new location and the file location as below:
Exported tube and found it in that location
C:\Users\Paul\Documents\JascPSP7\Tubes
Set up a Tubes folder on the Desktop and was able after browsing in File Locations to save tube to that folder
One thing I found was that I could not have all Save to path check boxes unticked s is shown in the OP image also I could only have 1 Save to Path ticked.
Seems that something is wrong with your installation that allows no Save to path to be ticked at all.
Try setting up in Documents a path to a Tubes folder and then browse to that folder in your third File Locations choice box and make sure all the tick boxes there are checked and see what that does.
I also note that back then the Shift Start program would not work to reset the program to default settings. Seems that was a later add.
Of course rather than continue to struggle with that version you could purchase a later version on special and then customise that as much as possible to resemble Jasc PSP 7.
I had no trouble moving back and doing things in PSP 7 but found the lack of the Adjust menu item disconcerting til I found it in Effects.
So that was also a later change separating most used functions to Adjust from less used Effects .

Re: PSP 7 folders appearing on desktop
This is a tough one.
The only other thing I could suggest is direct changes to the registry. I don't know if you want to try that or not. It requires some familiarity with the windows registry. I could post a screen shot of all my registry settings for tubes.

Re: PSP 7 folders appearing on desktop
All direct changes I've attempted have yielded no results in changing the default folder or preventing the folders from being created automatically. Not saying don't try, just that all attempts I've made have yielded no results.
Prior to editing the registry for Tubes looked like this
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Jasc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Cache\Tubes\Count = 1
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Jasc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Cache\Tubes\DefaultWrite = ffffffff
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Jasc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Cache\Tubes\DirAppSystem1 = 1
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Jasc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Cache\Tubes\DirEnable1 = 1
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Jasc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Cache\Tubes\DirName1 = C:\Program Files (x86)\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Tubes
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Jasc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Cache\Tubes\DirSubFolder1 = 1
I don't know what DirAppSystem1 does but it might be the 'Save to path" checkbox
DirSubFolder1 is the "Use Sub folders" checkbox
DirEnable1 is EnableThisPath checkbox
Count is how many paths there are
DefaultWrite....stll not sure. It's weird.
I tried changing the default path to point to my desktop and then opened PSP7. No new folder was created. When I looked at the File Locations, the path I edited was placed into the top text box. The original location was placed into the second text box and it was defined as the save to path.
After this edit three new keys were made (I will only highlight the changes):
Count = 2
DirAppSystem1 = 0
DirAppSystem2 = 1
DirEnable2 = 1
DirName2 = C:\Program Files (x86)\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Tubes
DirSubFolder2 = 1
If I fill in the third location text box inside psp7
DirEnable3 = 1
DirSubFolder3 = 1
DirName = "whatever I put there"
DirAppSystem3 = 0
count = 3
DefaultWrite = 1 #DefaultWrite now seems to mirror DirAppSystem but with a zero index
Finally I changed all three text boxes to custom values and set the first one as the SaveTo Path option
Count = 4
DirName4, DirAppSystem4, DirEnable4, DirSubFolder4 was added pointing to the original Program Files location.
DirAppSystem4 is now 1 all others are zero
DefaultWrite = 0 #defaultWrite is no longer matching DirAppSystem but is still zero indexed
Finally I tried setting DirAppSystem4 to zero, DirAppSystem2 to 1, DefaultWrite to 1 (second item in a zero indexed array) and restarted PSP7. Nothing happened, the folder was not created, DirAppSystem4 became 1 again, DirAappSystem2 became 0 again. DefaultWrite became 0.
PSP7 seems bound and determined to keep the bottom location of the dialog (the one that points to your desktop Kathleen) as an option even when I try and force it to be something else.

Looks like I'm screwed.I uninstalled, then inserted my disc, and it won't run. I keep getting "Flash Player not responding" I hear noises, and it freezes up.
Tried a fresh install of Flash, same problem after the install.
Disc appears to be in pristine condition.

Re: PSP 7 folders appearing on desktop
The flash player isn't necessary that's just the auto-run program that's there to assist in running the install options.
Go to Windows File Explorer and open the CD without running the auto-run program. There should be, somewhere in there, the install setup program that can be run to install PSP from the CD. The PSP7 installer itself doesn't use flash.

The disk should work, but the 7.04 version can be downloaded. Just do a search for "Paintshop Pro 7 dl."
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

I did open my pc and ran from DVD, but got same problem, Flash error came up, and program froze over.
Downloaded it from http://www.oldversion.com/windows/downl ... op-pro-7-0 but it says its just a 30 day trial.
I'm getting too old for this!

Can you post a screenshot of the file structure of the CD?
And that 30 day trial is more of a threat than a real problem. When I load my copy it says I'm on day 17909 of my 30 day trial.
