I received an email for the current sale on VideoStudio Ultimate 2018, but the sales page is confusing.
It lists an "Ultimate Effects Collection" containing NewBlueFX Titler Pro 5, on the features page for Ultimate 2018. Also says "Get hundreds of dollars’ worth of professional-quality special effects applications for only a few dollars more than the price of VideoStudio Pro." Yet upon adding it to my cart there is no mention of an "Ultimate Effects Collection" to be purchased for "a few dollars more".
It's really irritating how vague the sales page about this. NewBlueFX Titler Pro is even listed in the "compare" table as "Premium Plugins". I would like to take advantage of the deal before it expires tomorrow, but don't want to be baited into buying the software, and having to purchase NewBlueTitler separately for the $300 listed on their site.
So, assuming that the Ultimate Effects Collection is a separate purchase, how much is it and where can I purchase it after buying ultimate edition?
Is NewBlueFX Titler Pro Included with Ultimate Edition 2018?

Re: Is NewBlueFX Titler Pro Included with Ultimate Edition 2
Welcome to the forum.
The simple answer is that the "Ultimate Effects Collection" is not a separate purchase. It is precisely what makes the Ultimate version ... well... Ultimate! The Video Studio program itself is identical, whether you buy the Ultimate version or not. It is all the extra plug-ins, including NewBlue Titler 5.0, which make the package "Ultimate". Yes, Titler is definitely there as part of that package with all the other listed plug-ins. And indeed, they are definitely worth the few extra dollars.

Untrue. There are differences with regard to file format support as well as things like Multi-Cam Editing. Those need to be considered when choosing between Pro and Ultimate.Ken Berry wrote:Welcome to the forum.

Most functionality, however, is the same.
NB Titler Pro does come with VS Ultimate, but it's ultimately redundant as the package also includes Boris Graffiti and BCC Title Studio - the latter of which is as good as Titler Pro at everything it does (and does 3D Titles better, IMHO). The NewBlue Titler isn't really a huge factor. Boris also has about 100+ extra presets you can download from their blog/website for free.

Re: Is NewBlueFX Titler Pro Included with Ultimate Edition 2
I have to confess I wasn't aware of any differences between the ordinary and Ultimate versions of VS itself, just the add-ons.
I don't use multi-cam editing, so would not have noticed it missing if I had only the ordinary version of VS.
But I'm interested in your reference to format support being different between ordinary and Ultimate versions. I am wondering if, for example, the Ultimate version can deal with HEVC while the ordinary version cannot. As I have indicated elsewhere, my version of VS 2018 -- supposedly Ultimate -- will not accept HEVC despite Intel telling me both my CPU and GPU are capable of editing and producing HEVC, and despite the fact that HEVC plays happily on my video players and can be editing in my versions of Power Director 16 and Vegas Movie Studio 15. In other words, I am starting to wonder if somehow I have an ordinary version of VS somehow wrapped in my Ultimate package...

I think that has more to do with the flavor of the CODEC the device that encodes the footage uses, and how it's packaged. Is it 10-Bit HEVC footage?
The difference in format support has to do with XAVC and MXF Containers. It doesn't affect HEVC.

Re: Is NewBlueFX Titler Pro Included with Ultimate Edition 2
I have samples of clips from a good variety of HEVC versions, and none of them work on VS on this computer. Yet all work in other NLEs on the same computer. I raised it some time ago with Corel, but they just gave me the usual advice about hardware and having the Microsoft version of the codec installed. Nothing worked...

Re: Is NewBlueFX Titler Pro Included with Ultimate Edition 2
Thanks for the replies. I ended up buying ultimate. But I guess my computer is not up to par. All of the titlers work horribly slow. Previews are something like 5-10fps. I also had this issue with the titler built into the free version of Davinci Resolve, as well. Maybe it's the fact that my GPU has only 3GB RAM vs the 6GB in the standard GTX1060.
AMD FX-6300 O/C to 4.3ghz. 16GB RAM, GTX1060 3GB. I have an RX470 I can try before I give up.

Your machine is fine. The software is just badly optimized... or really not at all, frankly.
Refund and try Pinnacle Studio. It doesn't ship with the Titlers, but at least the performance will be very good on your machine. Aside from that, it does have NB Essentials 1-7, Stabilizer, etc. So it will have you basically covered in terms of plug-ins.
Those Titlers are relatively overrated, anyways, at least in this market segment
