Saving pictures as A1 size

Post by Rivana »

When I draw something, or create picture by importing .jpg, I try to save picture as A1 size and 300 dpi. I have set up page on A4, (tried also to set up as A1) and drawn larger pictures. When I save it as .jpg and import in corel again, picture is never larger than A2 size. I need goog quality to make posters. How can I save .jpg of my work to be in size as it is in Corel?

A1 is approx. 24 inches x 33 inches. If you want a print quality of 300 pixels per inch you will need a final image of approx. 7,200 pixels x 9,900 pixels.
If you have less than that, you won't get a A1 size with 300 pixels per inch print quality.
To calculate, multiply your final print inch size x 300 i.e. each inch requires 300 pixels.

If you want to set up a blank image of A1 size to paint/draw on in PSP, click on the File menu item, then click on New in the dropdown menu you get. This will open the window you can see in the image I have attached to this post. Click on the Paper icon on the left and then click on A1 (highlighted in blue in my attachment). This will automatically set up the image dimensions (Width and Height) on the right to the correct size (NOTE that I have the Units set to Inches). If not already set, then make sure to type 300.00 in the Resolution box. Make sure again that the box to the right of it has Pixels/In selected. I have Transparent checked for the background but you can uncheck that and click the box beside Color and you can set any color you want for the background of your blank image.

I have figured! When I export picture I have to go to Export for Web and in Transformation set up pixels. It was set up to 3500 x 5000 and there for was saving in that size.
Thank you all for effort!

You have confused me. Your original post said you were having trouble "saving" images in A1 size. You said nothing about "exporting" images. I don't even have an Export for Web in my PSP 2019 file menu.

What did you mean by the phrase " When I save it as .jpg and import in corel again..."? What procedure have you been using to save your images as .jpg? And where are you "importing" them into Corel again from? Do you mean when you "open" the image again in PSP?

Unless someone else has a better understanding of exactly what steps you are taking and what you are doing, could you please provide more detail about the procedure that was giving you problems?

I ask that because if you have an image that is A1 size open in your PSP workspace, then when you save it - whether as jpg, png, or whatever - then it should always save in A1 size as long as you are starting with an A1 size image. If you have an image in your workspace that is a different size than A1 and you want it to be A1 size then you have to use the Resize option and resize the image to A1 pixel size. But if you are resizing upwards (i.e., making it much larger) then there can be a noticeable degradation in image quality.

I look forward to hearing more details.

I am using Corel Draw X5. By saving image I meant export corel drawing as .jpg. I used to save it by going to files than Export, now I go to Export for web. That .jpg image was not exported as original size until I have export image at Export for web and set up to be saved at 100% (it used to saved it 70% of size). I was importing images in Corel by clicking on image from file and drop it in Corel. I hope I cleared up, but I not sure that Corel Draw X5 and PSP 2019 have same options.

That is the reason that we have had trouble answering your question. This is a Paintshop Pro forum, and you didn't mention in your first post that you were creating and saving the image in Corel Draw. They are different programs and therefore have different options. For questions you have about issues with Corel Draw you should visit their forum here:
