VS 8 with Sony camcorder DCR TRV 340

Post by lbouffandeau »

Hi,

my Sony is plugged through the DV out, and VS8 sees it ( Sony MSDV ). The camcorder is in play mode.

When I click on begin capture in VS, it does not ( it did once actually but not anymore) start the camcorder and therefore I can't convert my tapes into my computer.

I looked around in the forum but could not find any relevant help.

If anyone got an idea...

many thanks for the help,

regards

A couple of questions:

Can you control the camera from the screen?

Are you using the correct capture plugin? (Tools - change capture plugin). Should be the Ulead DirectShow Capture plugin.

Apart from that I have no idea.

Laurent,
Have you set up the Capture Preferences in the File menu?

Well, I tried with windows movie maker as suggested by XP when I plugged the camera, and it worked : it rewinded the tape ( blood hell, was that why it did not work anymore with VS8 ?? ).
...

Yes !!
As the tape was at the end, VS8 did not do anything, even try to play the tape, and that's why I was pissed of.
Now, after having rewinded the tape, VS8 is able to play it..

So, I'm a pathetic used, BUT, VS8, as W movie maker, should be able to suggest to rewind the tape...

Thanks anyway for your posts.

regards
