I would like to make animations inside my videos, such as having an arrow that follows a particular point of interest that may or may not be moving. Is there any native VS2018 feature that does this, or do I need to get animation software?
If I need to get animation software, are there any recommendations? Preferrably not costing a lot.
What animation should I use?

Method 1: Add a caption; selecting an arrow from WingDing3; and then use customize motion to use to move your arrow as desired (see https://youtu.be/99TjGcOHg_8?t=1899).Cyberherbalist wrote:... such as having an arrow that follows a particular point of interest that may or may not be moving
Method 2: Use Rotopen (see https://youtu.be/99TjGcOHg_8?t=661).

if you want the arrow to follow a specific point then *track motion* is the option to use just choose an arrow as the 'tracker'

Re: What animation should I use?
OK, I tried this, but didn't get very far -- since although Wingdings is there in the font list, selecting it does not cause Wingding characters to appear! I definitely have the font on the machine, since MS Word shows them up just fine. But in VS2018 it just shows up with the letter A (for the specific arrow shape I'm trying). If I change to another font, the next key I press is in the new font -- except for Wingdings!tletter wrote:Method 1: Add a caption; selecting an arrow from WingDing3; and then use customize motion to use to move your arrow as desired (see https://youtu.be/99TjGcOHg_8?t=1899).Cyberherbalist wrote:... such as having an arrow that follows a particular point of interest that may or may not be moving

Is there some special procedure for this font?

Re: What animation should I use?
I can't get the Wingdings font to work inside Videostudio
What I usually do in such circumstances is to make something, say an arrow, on a transparent background in a separate image manipulation program insert that in the overlay track of the timeline and rotate it so that it points at the desired angle
attached is one I made earlier download it (right click on it and choose 'save image as') and put it in an overlay track and using customise motion resize, move and rotate to your requirements
