Toolbar Customizing
My work recently upgraded my PSP X7 to 2019, and I'm slowly trying to set it up and customize the toolbars etc.
On my old version (X2) at home, I have several categories added to the Standard toolbar, in the form of drop-down buttons, i.e. "Adjust" or "Selections" or "Effects". For the life of me, I can't remember how to add those to the toolbar. I tried to click/drag the category name from customize window but nothing happens. I can't find find instructions in the pdf User Guide. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Toolbar Customizing
You can make a new Menu or a New Toolbar .
And you can have them docked or floating as I have shown with the New Toolbar - noting that you can name that toolbar as I have done "Most Used"
With your New Menu you can make lots of different additions, but so far I have not found a way to rename it so this is something to add to the wish list for 2020. Trying to add what we would call as separators is done by Right Clicking and choosing Start Group. Hope that helps.

Re: Toolbar Customizing
I can change New Menu to what I want. The way I do it is after I've dragged New Menu to my Toolbar. I right click it and it shows a tick in front of Text. I select Image and Text. A Button Dialog box opens. I then select Text Only and near the bottom is the option to Name so I replace New Menu with my choice and Save. With your New Menu you can make lots of different additions, but so far I have not found a way to rename it so this is something to add to the wish list for 2020.

Re: Toolbar Customizing
Well thank you for that . I keep learning new things. Bit of a roundabout way of doing it compared with teh naming of a new toolbar

Re: Toolbar Customizing
Thanks for the replies everyone. And thank you for the link Kathy_9, I will give that try when I get back to work.
Here's a screenshot of my customize dialog on PSP X2, which shows the first item on the Commands list is the main category, which can be dragged onto the toolbar above. That was so nice and easy to do, not sure why Corel decided to change that.

Re: Toolbar Customizing
But why would you want a second Effects on the toolbar. I suggest that Corel has removed Effects from the Command list in the Customise settings because it is just a case of reinventing the wheel.
Did a bit of experimenting and found that in X2 you could finish up with three Effects items as shown in the two following screenshots.
On the Standard Toolbar and on the Tools Toolbar But why would you want two or three copies of the same Menu item showing.
Now if it is a case of wanting the original Effects in a different location in PSP 2019 then you can also do that using the Customise dialog but just grab the existing Effects and move it to the Standard Toolbar or the Tools toolbar or to your own customised toolbar which you can have docked or floating. You just cannot have two copies of that same menu item.

Re: Toolbar Customizing
Maybe I have mis-interpreted what you are trying to say, but in PSP 2019 you can have two copies of the same menu item if, for example, you mean an item like the Effects menu item. So you can have the original Effects on the standard toolbar as well as a copy of it on the tools toolbar or a custom toolbar. Just open Customize, then hold down the Ctrl key and click on Effects that's on the standard toolbar and drag to the tools toolbar and drop it where you want there. You will now have it on both the standard toolbar and the tools toolbar.hartpaul wrote: Now if it is a case of wanting the original Effects in a different location in PSP 2019 then you can also do that using the Customise dialog but just grab the existing Effects and move it to the Standard Toolbar or the Tools toolbar or to your own customised toolbar which you can have docked or floating. But, as you said, I can't see why you would want it in two different places. On the other hand, if you just want to have a copy of a specific effect that you use a lot (e.g., Drop Shadow) on the tools toolbar for easy access, you can place a copy of it by the same procedure by first opening Customize, click and open the effect menu, click on and open 3D effects, then hold the Ctrl key and click and drag Drop Shadow onto your tools toolbar (or on a custom Effects toolbar containing your most used effects). Then you don't have to drill down through the effects menu to use it/them.

Re: Toolbar Customizing
Thanks Joe, Another thing learned the use of the control key to make a copy. So the OP can do all that they want to do even with PSP 2019 just not using the Effects (or other Menu item) from the Comands as was done in PSP X2.

Thank you for the tips for psp 2019, I'll give that a try.JoeB wrote:Maybe I have mis-interpreted what you are trying to say, but in PSP 2019 you can have two copies of the same menu item if, for example, you mean an item like the Effects menu item.
