'Open with PaintShop Pro' missing from 'Open With' menu

Post by pledden »

Annoyingly this has gone missing from the 'Open With' menu. I seem to remember that an update from Microsoft caused this problem. How do I get it back again? It is no good choosing it as default because I have other programmes I may want to open with a .jpg file. I don't particularly wish to dabble in the registry so would uninstalling and re-installing solve my problem?

You might try editing your context menu with one of the free Context manu editors.

I tried all three, and none of them worked for me. However, by rooting around in the Registry (and with some help from The Windows Club) I managed to add PSP 2018 to my context menu. Here's how:

Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > * > shell. I made a new key entitled "Open With PSP 2018." under that I placed the new key "Command." In that, I copied the address of the directory, then appended to it the name of the file, surrounded the whole thing with quote marks. Then I appended a space and added %1, in quotes.

So the whole thing came out to

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Open With PSP 2018\Command. Contents =
"C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 (64-bit)\Corel PaintShop Pro.exe" "%1"

As I said earlier, I now have Open With PSP 2018 in my Context Menu.

Now, I can't seem to move this item up in the Menu. Any suggestions?
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.
