This forum hard to access the past few days
Is it just me or have others found that it hasn't been possible to access this board all the time the past couple of days? Also, even when I do get the page (which takes longer than normal to load) I find I have to log in every time instead of being remembered.
Regards,
JoeB

Re: This forum hard to access the past few days
According to the techs who look after the Board servers, the servers have, amongst other things, come under sustained pressure from a number of IP subnets located in a specific country. Obviously, the servers were not coping, resulting in slow responses or outright crashes. The latest 'crash' was deliberate closure while the techs found ways to block the IP subnet pressure.
Just by way of explanation, the Site Admins and Mods here have no power over the servers. We suffer from the slow responses or crashes like everyone else. All we can do is try to contact the server techs. But time zone difference of course mean inevitable delays in fixing the problems.

Your explanation makes sense.Ken Berry wrote:According to the techs who look after the Board servers, the servers have, amongst other things, come under sustained pressure from a number of IP subnets located in a specific country. Re: This forum hard to access the past few days
Over the last few days I have either found it impossible to get on or very slow. I have started now by clicking the link in my bookmarks toolbar and if it does not come up within 5 seconds have gone and checked emails or something else and eventually after perhaps 5 minutes the site becomes available. Today was back to normal.
Can someone translate this "come under sustained pressure from a number of IP subnets located in a specific country" Is that another way of saying a Denial of Service Attack?

Yep! I was being diplomatic because the masters of our servers are in Taiwan, and themselves were being diplomatic about the origin of the attack. Overnight, though, they themselves have used the term DDNS which they hadn't before. I suspect that attack is not so much directed at Corel, but at the fact the servers are located in Taiwan...

Re: This forum hard to access the past few days
This happend a few times per year. I experienced it about 3-4 times in previous three years for myself. Perhaps more I don't know.
This year I use PSP less so I visit forum once in a weeks.
