m2ts and mp4 problem

VS 2018 will not process m2ts or mp4 files in AVCHD format. This thing is like a common cold-it comes and goes but, always lurks out there.
Corel needs to fix this enduring problem.

What exactly do you mean by "m2ts or mp4 files in AVCHD format". I assume you mean that the video has the extension of either m2ts or mp4 but is produced using the H.264/AVCHD codec. Or do you mean something else? I for one have no difficulty playing either format, when produced using H.264, in VS 2018. After all, the H.264 codec is one of the most common available these days, and I would have expected more people to report having your problem if indeed it were a problem.

I create a video that contains MP4 and M2TS files. When I go to create a 1280x720 using the AVCHD option the program crashes. A return to the desktop.
I will try using an old image backup and see what happens but, first I have several projects to complete.

A possible work-around, if you have several projects you need to complete quickly, would be to use a previous version of VS if you still have one installed. As you know, you can save a project in up to three immediately previously versions' formats. So in VS2018, you would Save As and choose, say, X10 if you have X10 still installed (or can install it again).

In the meantime, I will see if I can replicate your problem... though I tend to doubt that I will be able to as I regularly use the AVCHD option with my mp4 clips...

I reinstalled an image backup from a time when it was working and now no problem!!!

I installed several program updates and now VS 2018 cannot function with mp4 , m2t,s mov files. I ran it in the safe mode and it works. A program must be causing the problem but, which one? I have reinstalled the image backup and got it working again. I am installing files and checking to find the culprit.
