Use older creative collections in version 2019

Post by sheng-si »

I use Paintshop several years and with any ultimate version I received a creative content and some creative collection. Is it possible to use them in version 2019.
What's the way to realize it.

Greetings

Would have helped if you had said what previous version of PSP. I will use PSP X4 as an example. I will also assume you are using the Complete Edit mode . The creative Collections and Creative Content are installed in teh programs section rather than the User section
OK if you were going to transfer brushes
Open up PSP X4 and also PSP 2019

File > Preferences >File Locations> Brushes
For PSP X4 it should be :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Corel_01
You can copy that location and open up File Explorer and paste in the addess bar to get to that folder location.
Doing the same for PSP 2019 and the location there is :
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2019\Corel_01
Copy and paste into File Explorer address bar
Note the difference - from PSP X6 the brushes etc were placed in the C:\ProgramData\Corel folder.
You can open those two locations and compare the Brush files included there and if different copy the extra ones over to the 2019 folder
You can do all that with the other things like Tubes, Picture Frames etc/.

The second method actuallly points the 2019 version to the other version locations to access their brushes etc as well.
In this case you would open your X4 and find the location of the Brushes folder
as above it is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Corel_01
Then you would open the 2019 locations folder and over on the right hand side of the dialog click Add. in the new window that shows up you could paste that link to the X4 Brushes and click OK.
Note because this is a link path if you were then to uninstall PSP X4 then you would lose and access to the brushes as they are removed with the uninstall.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867
