I am working on a project that has AVCHD clips mixed with MPG clips. After rendering using the MPG format the MPG clips have been converted fine on the video file but all the vertical lines from the the AVCHD clips are wavy. A second video file made using AVCHD format seems to have fixed this problem but the video is now stop/start.
Differences between the 2 clips as follows:
MPG AVCHD
File format : PAL DVD PAL HDMV
Video type : MPEG2 Video H.264 video both upper field first
Attributes : 24 bits 720x576 24 bits 1440x1080 both 16:9
Data Range: Max 9100 kbps Max 16000 kbps
Is there a way to fix the problem or do I have to start all over again?

Hi
Your details show you using VS X3, is this correct?
X3 can only use mpeg2 settings not HD for its project properties.
Although you may be able to render to HD, I do not have X3 installed to check that.
What are you trying to make, a DVD disc, Bluray disc or video for PC / internet?
Which part of the rendered clip shows the jagged lines, the H264 or Mpeg2, or is it apparent on both?
Ok
It is best that your project properties match your video files properties, mixing types, I would use the HD settings and maybe choose 1920 x 1080 rather than Mpeg2.
When you do Share – what options do you choose, what are they?
Top left is the option for Same as project Settings, try that.
Set Preferences F6 – Edit Tab – Resampling quality set to Best
I have to say that working with 1440 video does seem to cause some issues, maybe because its anamorphic, as is 720 x 576 the 1440 x 1080 being stretched to 16:9 ratio?
I would say for the future set camera recordings to 1920 x 1080, may be a better option.

Re: AVCHD mixed with MPG
Hello Trevor,
thanks for this.
Yes VS X3
I am trying to make a Video file for later copying to DVD.
We have recently returned to Sydney from a Danube cruise, which we shared with my brother from Holland. We have exchanged each other's video recordings. We then use each other's clips in our projects where appropriate. He uses Pinnacle and had no problems with my clips. His clips are in AVCHD format and it is these clips that show the wiggly lines (after rendering, not in the project) when panning.
Same as project setting was used in settings.
Also tried to create an AVCHD file. This seemed to fix the wiggle problem but was badly stop/start.
I am now looking at using Zamzar to convert the offending clips and then replace them one by one. With nearly 100 foreign clips quite a job. I thought there might be a simpler option.
thanks for this.
