Materials Pallet and File locations

Post by Loopy »

Just opened and installed the new PSP 2019 Ultimate. The only thing I have done so far is search for the materials Pallet with no luck. It's checked off to be visible but it isn't.

Also the tools pallet, It said you can toggle it on or off with F2. It toggled off but not back on although it says it's there. Not a good start.

Help anyone??? I can't go far without these.

I have also spent time putting in all my file locations but when I go back and look they aren't there. I have put them in 3 times this afternoon and still they disappear. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Materials palette shoulld toggle on or off with F6
On my system F2 only toggles off a custom toolbar I have made - it will not turn it on again. I have to do a View >Toolbars then untick my custom toolbar and then retick it to get it back.
Apart from that F2 does nothing else.
Re yout Tools Palette - there is no Tools Palette , there is a Tool Options Palette (F4).
There is a Tools Toolbar if that is what you are referring to which is turned on or off using View > Toolbars and ticking or unticking Tools.

Hi Loopy,
are you using 2019 in Complete mode ?
Go to File / Workspace / Complete

And also, go to :
File / Preferences / Reset preferences / check Make all Palettes/Toolbars visible and on screen

Oh thank you Jean-Luc. I have used PSP for years and never knew that existed or is that just in Ultimate? This is the first I've actually had ultimate.
I actually like the essentials mode but can't seem to make the materials palette show there.
Anyway it's all good now. Thank you so much.

Sorry, I knew the toolbar wasn't a palette, my mistake. With the F2 key, I was just dong what the manual said so if it's F6
then the manual is wrong and they should correct it. This is from the manuel (help fliles) under working with toolbars:
"You can display or hide a floating toolbar by pressing F2"

No the Text is correct. Note that term "floating toolbar" - so it applies to palettes and toolbars that are not docked.
As well the shortcut keys operate the same in Essentials and Complete.
You can check out the shortcut keys and their usage through Help > Keyboard map - change the category to All Commands Click on the Keys heading so they are arranged in Alphabetical order and see what each Shortcut key does.
Note that F2 it says hide Palettes when it should be Hide any floading palettes and toolbars.
You have the program, now use the time to explore what it can do .

And if you had a workspace from a previous version, don't load it. It may end with some items missing.
