PSP plugins

Post by Jean-Luc »

I see many messages about plugins installation or not working on this forum but also on the French forum.
And I see many views for messages about plugins.

Perhaps a need for creating a "PSP plugins" sub-forum ?

I suspect that, at most, all that might be needed is a sticky about plugins and plugin installation at the top of the forum. Most of the issues raised have the same answers: e.g., 32 bit plugins won't work in 64bit PSP and vice versa - at least without a helper app; there are a couple of .dll files that are needed for some older plugins to work (with links to The Plugin Site or other places where more info and download links are provided); and perhaps a list of plugins that people are aware have known issues with, for example, newer versions of PSP whether 32bit or 64 bit. Otherwise, there's not much more to be said to those who are having plugin issues, except to uninstall and reinstall them, etc. It's not like the Scripting sub-group, where there are many types of scripts posted and many different ways to achieve different actions and results with scripting knowledge and therefore a separate discussion group makes sense. It's not as if people need help in creating custom plugins for PSP. We basically do that with some scripts that are created. :-)

I agree with Joe. If one or two (or more) of you can work up a text between yourselves, I'd be happy to make it a sticky. You might want to first work on such a text by PM or email before posting it as an agreed text.

Joe's suggestion is a good idea.
As I am not fluent enough in English, I will let the text by someone else...

I found that I was using the same plugins in various editors. So I simply created a new folder just for plugins. Download, install or copy plugins to that folder. Then I point all/any editor to that folder rather than relying on the editor dictating where the plugins 'should' be.
