You can of course delete most -- or even all -- those older versions of 21.0 -- except perhaps for the last one "just in case"...

Ken, I keep them all (just in case) and also to remind me how many times I have followed the procedure.Ken Berry wrote:You can of course delete most -- or even all -- those older versions of 21.0 -- except perhaps for the last one "just in case"...

Re: VS 2018 Service Pack 4
I've been late to sp4: been busy for several days. But the issues with a) long delays and no indication of action and b) auto update were complained of bitterly with prior sp's. In particular, the auto update isn't auto - doesn't happen when VS is opened, instead, it happens IF your PC is operating at the day (or week or month - depends on setting you chose) and time that you installed VS. The details are in the post here
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63973&p=359024&hili ... te#p359024
And having said all that for past updates, it's evident that once again, Corel haven't listened.

Re: VS 2018 Service Pack 4
Downloaded and installed SP4. And this one is a doozy, more than twice the size of the last SP. The time to download is lengthy, even on a reasonably fast (40+mbps) broadband link, and the install time is similarly long - you just have to keep waiting.
This screenshot indicates how large the SP's have been and the path to find them in your "user" folder on the C drive

Re: VS 2018 Service Pack 4
I'm on VS2018 and at the time of its release I didn't install SP3 after the negative feedback about smart proxy issue. Afterwards I lost track of progress of updates for VS2018, I didn't realise until recently there was a SP4. I haven't installed either SP3 or SP4.
Is SP4 accumulative? or do I have to install SP3 first then SP4 ? BTW I'm relative happy with my current version/patch of VS2018 (its stable and does what I need it to do without an annoying bugs that I have noticed) so do I really need to update to SP4?

Re: VS 2018 Service Pack 4
They should be cumulative, ie you just need to install the latest one. But a word of caution here
2018 has a bug re rendering to an MPEG-2 format, in that in the time that a transition occurs with data in the overlay track, see this link
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65069&hilit=2018+blinks
The problem only occurred in either Sp3 or Sp4 - have not been able to identify just which one caused it; and the problem has carried over into 2019. There are bug reports on it for both 2018 and 2019, and a "it's fixed, no it's not" sort of discussion going on between me and the developer team liaison contact. It's not fixed yet. There are multiple pages to the topic thread.
The workaround in the link works. If you don't use mpg/mpeg-2 files in render or anywhere else, it' won't affect you.

Re: VS 2018 Service Pack 4
If you search this forum, you'll find listings of the fixes in VS2018 SP3 (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63973) and SP4 (viewtopic.php?t=64616&p=363256). You can read the fixes and decide if you need them, but of course you don't have to install these SPs if your current version of VS2018 does what you want. Why risk breaking software that meets your needs?RickMen wrote:I'm relative happy with my current version/patch of VS2018 (its stable and does what I need it to do without an annoying bugs that I have noticed) so do I really need to update to SP4?

Thanks tletter. There is nothing on the listings for SP3 & 4 that's essential to me.tletter wrote:If you search this forum, you'll find listings of the fixes in VS2018 SP3 (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63973) and SP4 (viewtopic.php?t=64616&p=363256). Another reason not to apply the updates.Davidk wrote:They should be cumulative, ie you just need to install the latest one. But a word of caution here
