Crop box stays on

Post by lbabus »

After I crop a photo and save the changes and go to the next photo the crop box shows up on the next picture.. The crop button stays highlighted on the vertical toolbar. How do I turn it off?

It may be that you have not gone to a different tool when you go to the next photo. For example, select the Pan tool (the hand icon).

Thank you both! Any way to see both the before image and the after image on the same screen at one time for a side by side comparison?

The side by side comparison is only available for some tools in the Edit mode.

When I want to compare changes I duplicate the image by using Shift+D, and then sit the two images side by side.

Are you working in Manage, Adjust or Edit mode ?
In Adjust mode, when you make the settings, clicking on the "Show original" button on screen's bottom permits to see the image "before".

Are you here referring to the crop tool again or have you changed midstream and asking a general question.
If the crop tool then Crop as new Image will keep your original image visible and also show you the cropped image.

At any time when you have an image loaded you can drag the layer thumb to the empty workspace and create a copy.
Then you can operate on thatt copy and compare changes to the origina; by choosing Windo > Tile Horizontally

This has been a feature of PSP since at least PSP7 (the earliest version I have on my machine). On the Menu Bar, select "windows." Go down to "Tile vertically" and you will have side-by-side views of whatever images you have opened.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.
