Copy Protecting a finished DVD

Post by SirRealism »

:?: Is anyone aware of a facility within VideoStudio/DVD Factory to encrypt or otherwise copy protect the DVD of my completed project? If not, any low-cost options? I want to control distribution of my DVD ( I have some nefarious relatives that would love to pirate my hard work  )

You should try Ulead DVD WorkShop instead. It will have CSS and MacroVision protection feature.

Hope this helps.

Ulead DVD Workshop is rather expensive.
Is anybody aware of a freeware in order to implement a CSS-Macrovision after burning a DVD with MF 3.0 ?

I donot think there will be any freeware to have this protection feature because to implement the protection will require software developers to pay a royalty fee for the license.

If you do find some freeware have this feature, please let me know. I would be very interested.

Hope this helps.

DVD WS only has "support" for protection -- it doesn't actually allow you to burn a DVD disc at home with the protection.

To get it to work, you would enable the feature and burn the DVD to your hard drive, then ship that off to a replication house that will generate the discs with the protection...

There are many programs available for ripping copy protected dvd's a couple of them are even free. So it would hardly be worth the money of effort to try and add copy protection.
