Multicam unusable in Videostudio 2018

Post by Cryocooler »

Hi,
Anybody have any solutions to my problem where in multicam mode the videos don't play back together (in fact all 4 are stuck in the preview panes) whilst the audio does play. The larger screen for the effective output also stays blank.
If you enable scrubbing and move the timeline by mouse then all 4 videos move in line with the audio. Note Smart Proxy is enabled and those files are there... The clips are only about 10 mins long each.
When I first got 2018 it kind of worked though the playback was a bit jerky. I downloaded Service Pack 3 last weekend - don't know if this is a factor.
Have been working with customer support but it didn't resolve it.

I see this has been reported elsewhere on the web and someone put a youtube video up about it.
My PC is a Core i7, 12GB RAM and 1TB hard disk so should be no problems with that?

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy
And welcome to the forums
We do not work for Corel or Coral Support just running the forums as volunteers trying to help.
We have no idea as to what support have recommended.
You mentioned this being reported elsewhere but do not give any details?

I have just tested MCE using 4 MP4 + an audio file and have no problems.
If you were to use the Video Samples from the Media Library do you still have trouble.

About your video files, can you give more details!
Working from Video Studio timelines can you add your clips, then right click for preferences, what are they?
You can create an image (jpeg) of that panel to attach to your post
I assume that all clips are similar video / same properties.
Do you have any issues editing these on the timelines when not using MCE?

Hi Trevor,
Thanks for the reply.
The referecne I found on Youtube was this:-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K1ns_KToZ0

Mine is the exact same problem...

The clips I have are from my band practice - two are .MOV format and the other two are MP4 (different cameras)
Last night I tried exporting the both .MOV files from videostudio as MP4. Then tried again using all as MP4 but again the same issue.

The Corel support recommended a return to standard settings mode (it was anyway I think) then update video driver and sound card driver. That was about it...

They are all fine to edit in the standard editing window.

You can actually make a multicam video but it's total guesswork as you change cameras by clicking on them without actually seeing them play whilst the audio plays! But you still can't see it play back until you import it back to the normal interface.

If I can't get multicam to work then it's back to cutting and pasting the 4 camera shots in the normal interface which is time consuming to say the least!

Note: Whilst I have had Videostudio since version 4 I am just an occasional user so still a novice!

Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy
I don’t know what support means by “standard settings mode”, did they say how?
There were some issues very early on when 2018 was first released but as far as I know were fixed with SP2

I do not need to use MCE except for testing which appears to be functioning ok.

I assume you are able to sync the audio across all clips?
Can you share your video files, upload to a sharing site (google Drive, DropBox, One drive etc,) so we can try running MCE

Hi Trevor,
Here were the instruction to set it to default mode.
I will try and upload the files to Google Drive (never done it before) - who do I share them with?

Thanks,
Andy

Regarding your concern, I would like to suggest to first try to delete all the temp files from your computer and reset your VideoStudio to its default settings.

To delete the temp files in your computer, kindly follow the instructions that are provided on the link below.

http://howto.corel.com/en/c/How_to_remo ... tem_issues

Now, to reset your VideoStudio to its default settings, please follow the instructions below.

To reset your VideoStudio, kindly follow instructions that are listed below:

Before you reset your VideoStudio to its default settings, I would like to recommend saving your files first:

To save the VideoStudio library:
• Click Settings
• Click Library Manager
• Click Export Library
• Select a destination folder or create one
• Click the OK button

To Import the VideoStudio Library
• Click Settings
• Click Library Manager
• Click Import Library...
• Select the destination folder that holds the exported library information
• -Click the OK button

After saving your files, you can now proceed on resetting your software to its default settings:
• On the keyboard, launch the Run box by pressing the Windows button then the letter R (Windows + R)
• In the Open box, type %APPDATA% and press the enter key.
• In the new window, find the Ulead Systems folder.
• Open the Ulead Systems folder.
• Open the Corel VideoStudio Pro folder.
• There should be a folder named 21.0 here.
• Rename 21.0 to 21.0_old

Try tp switch on the smart proxy i do not see the smart proxy icons on your video clips.
The second issue is probably the W10 and your HW. I have similar issue on one laptop with W8.1, during rehersal it does not give a moving picture, but the rendering is usually OK. The same program in different computer works fine. ( the laptop is newer).

Hi
Unfortunately the icon indicating that smart proxy has been used does not show on clips within the MCE panel, only on the library or edit timelines does that show?
Andy did say that the proxy files did exist, but worth checking that they do show from the library?
