Major bug is VS18??

Post by shaun113 »

Hi all, I'm experiencing random crashes,, can sort of deal with that.

My gripe is valid. I just finished a 37 min project. Its a mix of 4k mobile footage, 2.7k and 4k Go pro footage and 1080p footage shot off my Panny HMC152.

Strange things do happen.

I have the proxy file settings turned on so it will smoothly play back to the 4k stuff ok from the timeline.

Ok all done, edited.

Render out a 1080p file and it looks like shyte, except for the 1080p footage that was used.
All the 4k stuff is woeful,,, scaling artifacts, aliasing artifacts etc.

Did several outputs to verify.

To further verify my suspicions I made a new project, imported a 4k file with all the proxy settings turned off.
Export a 4k and 1080p file and it looks magic.

It appears that my VS is still using the proxy files to create my final output file.

They are not ready for going beyond HD. UHD is a problem they need to address. Too mention another circumstance: You cannot convert from 360 video to AVCHD without a crash. As I use mainly HD, the program is fine. Hardware always leads software.

Hi shaun113
And welcome to the forums ….

There may be an issue when rendering with Smart Proxy selected this has been was raised on earlier posts.
Deselect Smart Proxy then try rendering again.
No need to delete the proxy files, just deselect the option.

Thanks guys,,, I managed to find the workaround before coming here. I went thru every possible scenario and come to the conclusion that the proxy files were causing the problem,,, mind you it took a couple of days painstakingly trying different things to work it out but we got there in the end.

I made this post then decided to do a search on this forum and it became evident that I am not alone with this issue.
Hope Corel can correct it for upcoming upgrades / new version etc.

I wonder when they'll fix this or do we wait for the next version? Which will then have other issues.

The previous VS handled 4k perfectly fine.

I'm having a similar issue from the last couple of days. Should I revert back to the old verion in order to solve the problem?
