Keeping preferences when upgrading

Post by grinolot »

I will be upgrading from PSP x8 to x9 and want to keep my preferences (mostly custom toolbar) containing brightness/contrast, unsharp mask tool, etc.

Is there instructions on how to do this?

You are best to do this manually and then save your workspace. It should only take a short time and you only have to do it once per new program.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

I agree with him, but before I discovered this I unchecked the Clear Preferences/Customizations box when uninstalling a version of PSP. Worked. But if you run more than one version of PSP simultaneously you are better off saving a workspace. The one area this does not apply is in new features. Old Workspaces do not contain new features. Eg. -- as happened recently -- a user saved an old workspace, in this case from PSP 2018. She used the same Workspace for PSP 2019. Its dropdown menu did not contain a setting for adjusting a font size. So be careful.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.
