Post by Michael REMY »

hi,

i noticed that when i saved an edited picture with PSP2018, the datetime and the sofware named is written into the binary itself !
so, when i include the jpeg file in another binary files (like .exe or mp3 tag art album....), then i can see it again !

is this an option ?
how to desable that ?

Thanks for the help.

i discover it is storend in the exif infos.

what i don't want, is PSP add exif in files which does not come from camera !
When i create a picture, once it is saved , it contains EXIF infos !!! not normal at all.

It sounds like the software is being honest: "Hi. I was processed by PSP."
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

i tried, it does not concern the EXIF information, only the history text stored.

PSP should have an option to let the user decide when he want this infos :
- never
- only from camera pciture
- ask on demand

When you do Save As go to Options and then untick save Exif informtion and any reference to PSP is not saved. so works for any graphic not from camera.

You can't turn off adding the program name in PSP without removing all EXIF data.

However, you can remove this EXIF data using Windows own properties dialog.

it works but it is boring ! requierts time and clic ! i have to do it each time !

the correct feature should be to not add an exif info when there is not, and let the user chose himself the behavior when there is already one.

it would be good that PSP can display the size of the metatag exif the whole metadata stored in a image file because it can begin bigger that the file itself.
Image1.jpg
When you broadcast image to the internet through a limited speed, you neet to care about the bandwith (which is not free), so psp should alert the user , it could be a good feature.

Imagine the meta size of a picture you work on everyday....
The worst situation is when you embeded the file into another one (.exe, android application apk, or music file as album art cover..)

Saving history is only supported by JPG, TIFF and pspimage.
If you save in another file format, the history will be deleted (PNG for example).
You may also save as X3 compatibility (history will be removed).

I was going to ask How do you do that? but I kept digging. In PSPx10 (2018) in the Save As dialogue, I see choices of PSPimage and PSP Animation Shop under "Options." When I click the "Options" button for PSPimage I get another dialogue. Within that dialogue, there is a "Version" button that allows me to choose PSP 5 to PSPx8 -- a long list. Hats off to Corel for providing such customizability, and hats off to you for knowing about it. You showed us an easy way to accomplish OP's wishes.

One question -- when I choose PSP Animation Shop, when I click the "Options" button I get choices of "Run length encoding," "LZ77 encoding" and "Uncompressed." Do you know what those options are?

They are different ways to compress (or not) the saved file :
