Encountered an improper argument

Post by Skipper »

Hi people, just made up a little video to put onto YouTube and when rendering was complete received the phrase "Encountered an improper argument"
Now I try not to argue with anyone, least of all video programs and I don't even know that it is talking about so any help is appreciated!
These video programs are getting too smart for themselves when they start analysing my efforts and giving me a C minus on my efforts :)

Hi Skipper
I would not bother arguing with yourself about this one and if you do find the culprit I will give you 10 out of 10
Yes it has been around for a while for a few people, if I look through my notes I may remember how to replicate the error, not that it would help.
I just do not know or can advise on what you can do to avoid the other than to turn the other cheek.

Can you give more details as to what you were actually doing and I will try to replicate
You mention rendering to YouTube, were you using Share – Web – YouTube or just Share Mpeg4?

Hi Trevor
Sounds like good advice where arguments are concerned. And to remember exactly what I had done to bring this upon myself is more than my old brain can remember
Suffice it to say I walked away from it (turned the other cheek so to speak) shut the computer down having posted my enquiry and returned some hours later to try again
It all went off without a hitch and my 30 second video is now on YouTube I am pleased to say - so your advice was well founded :D
Thanks very much for your help

I have been getting this recently when adding the VS-created music to the timeline. It seems not to be a problem. But I should add that this aspect of the program is not working well for me. Sometimes the generated clip is silent instead of having music. Sometimes the demo in the work box doesn't produce sound. Overall it's buggy for me right now, as are other parts of the program. It didn't used to be like this.

Mike
You seem to be having several issues with sound and the Improper Argument is confusing and usually difficult to replicate.
My thoughts are that both issues are separate, that Improper Argument has nothing to do with the sound, I could of course be wrong?
First are you able to replicate either the Improper Argument or the loss of sound?
Can you remember what you did to get the improper argument?

For the sound it reads as though this is after rendering, can you give more details of the clips used.
Some MP3 audio using the lame codec can cause issues, if it is after rendering try rendering again without using Smart Render.
