ASP3 deleted 500+ pics, replaced it with 130 GB corrupt data

Post by vesterskov »

I must say im pretty sad angry right now. I have written to your Support - but i have not gotten any explanation or real help by now, almost 14 days later!
Therefor i will try to get some more serious help, here on the forum!

Aftershot Pro 3 deleted my pictures with 130gb of corrupt meta data files!

I needed to have a quick look at some pictures i took the day before, of my daughters participating big horse riding event day! They did great that day and won big, and it was important to my family.
i put my SD card in my laptop and I looked thru the pictures in Aftershot and green flagging some of the best of them, like i always do, no problem, i jumped to the next folder - still no problem, but then my wife joined me, when i back to the first folder - only 12 images were left!
To my horror - Aftershot pro just deleted 500+ pictures!
It replaced the images with corrupt data files - Containing Meta/exif data from my camera and lens - Also the old Bibble name pops up several places.

My SD card is a 32 GB - but in the image folder, there suddenly is 130 GB corrupt files!

My wife started to cry, and all hell broke loose! I have been working for hours, trying to get these images recovered!

I tried different free data recovery programs, none of them where able to recover the images.
I ended up trying "CardRecovery v6.10" - and finally the images showed up - but i needed to pay 39.95 USD + exchange fees to get the images!
But a lot of the images were corrupt/broken/damaged. Therefor lost forever!

I shoot weddings and horse shows - i shoot important images - like most photographers I guess.

But this experience has made me think hard about using Aftershot!
Its is unacceptable what Aftershot did - and i don't think i trust your product any longer!

I'm looking for an explanation and some compensation for our image loss and expenses to retrieve the images.

I have attached a zip file containing screenshots of the corrupt made by Aftershot - where you can see alot of it is meta data from my camera - also a proof of purchase of recovery software.

Hello AK

I thought that explained the issue. have you read what i have written?
Is there anything particular that you want me to clarify?
I have sent you 9 screenshots of what aftershot have done to my pictures and SD card.
There where no error messages in aftershot or anything - only the carnage of corrupt data and missing pictures and my wifes tears.

I used Aftershot like i always do.
looked thru a folder of 500+ pictures, green flagged 50-80 pcs i think, looked thru an other folder, green flagged some pictures there as well.
Went back to the first folder, and there was only a few pictures left. Aftershot had "deleted" and replaced the pictures with +130 gb of corrupt meta data - on a 32 gb SD card. (please see the screenshots that i have sent).

Why should i create another Windows account?

Explain to me, what that should do?
Is it for a test? Or is this your solution?

Come on guys! What is this...

"...Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions."

I asked for an explanation, what is this for? for a test of some sort? or is this a solution?

I must admit, I was disappointed in aftershot deleting my images, but the disappointment and frustration only grew with this "support".
I'm hoping for a happy outcome, but I'm not expecting it! So now have started looking at lightroom instead...

As you describe the problem it looks to me that you have a corrupt SD card. I have seen same errors/faults on my system with a corrupt sd card. In my case I could recover the files fortunately. The SD card was thrown out. Check your card for errors - I think the problem lies there - not in ASP.
