How to turn off the Gallery Management in PSP 9X

Post by jungleexplorer »

I don't know who designed the PSP gallery manager, but it is the worst I have ever seen. I have never used the manager part of PSP before a week ago and now I desperately need a way to turn it off. It has slowed PSP to the speed of frozen molasses. Take a lot look at my system specs over on the right and tell me if you think it should take PSP 9X 2 to 3 minutes to start up? It did not do this until I added my photos folders to the manager. HUGE MISTAKE! Now each time it starts up, scans my photos folders and I have over 100 thousands photos!!!! It just sits there with a little blue circle going round and round for minutes, completely frozen. Oh MY GOSH! ARRGGG!!!

I want to completely turn the manager off. I don't need it. I use Picasa photo manager for my management needs and it works amazingly good.

File > Preferences > General Program Preferences and Default Workspace and click the Edit radio button.

Thanks. But it doesn't stop PSP from re-scanning my photo data based each time it starts up. I need some way to disconnect it from my photo photos storage folder. As along as it is connected to that folder with 100k photos, it will continue to scan it and freeze up PSP.

I have mine set to open in Edit mode . When I go to Manage the Navigation is set to Computer and the folder selected is a folder containing about 15 images on my Desktop.
It does not seem to try and catalog any other folders nor even an external hard drive with over 200 000 images. I have never had any slowing down because of this cataloging.

First remove the pictures folder from your collections. Thia will prevent PSP from looking for new files. Then, delete the database. Now it won't matter if you start in edit or manage mode
