Convert image to RGB 16bits/channel not working

Post by CloudyBright »

File> Preferences> General Program Preferences> Auto Action> Converts Image to RGB 16bits/channel "Always"
This setting does not work. I click on the "Always" button, click OK and it closes - when I double check the setting i find that it had reverted back to "Prompt'.
Is this a bug or why can't I convert photos to 16bit?

I've never changed any of the auto action settings but I just tested this is 2019, 2018 and X9 and I can confirm your findings that the changes don't stick.

You can submit a ticket with Corel at the following link.

Corel tech responded that they were able to duplicate this problem and are forwarding it to their Level 2 for further troublehooting.

If you're interested I have a workaround for you. It requires use of the registry editor.

1) Close PSP
2) open regedit
3) Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\PaintShop Pro\X11\General\Fixups
4) Find "IncreaseColorsTo16Bit
5) Change the value to 0 for "Always"

PSP should now show "Always" in the preferences dialog.

Corel's tech support response was to select: Image > Increase Color Depth
That works on a one-by-one basis.

And thanks to LeviFiction for a registry edit work-around which I will probably do when I have a little free time on my hands.
