As it came many times on the forum before, a transparent PNG is very useful
Make one and name it CP-A00 tran.png
Place it in the C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9\Samples\Decoration folder
Then it will show up the first in line for action

?? why would you use it? seems like a lot of effort when existing things do.
I use an existing colour in the timeline if I want to spread it out to cater for something in the overlay track, then size the overlay track item to completely fit the preview window. timeline time track OK, no edges in overlay item.

When you have somethings that you can control the size of on overlay tracks but, the main track will slide over it, you can use the dummy png to fill the space. Thereby keeping your overlays in tact.
