Re: How to save a transparent image.
Further to what Jean-Luc said, when saving as a transparent PNG image, you have to Save As...PNG, and in the dialogue that opens you first click on the Options button at lower right, and in the window that then opens you have to click on the Run Optimizer button at lower right. In that new window that opens click on the Transparency tab, and make sure that the Alpha Channel Transparency and Existing Layer or Image Transparency are selected. Then click OK and then Save and save it to the folder and with a file name that you wish.
PNG is best for most images unless they have a limited color palette, because GIF is limited to a 256 color palette.

Re: How to save a transparent image.
I have a question regarding transparent images. If I save a .png and later save it as a layer on a background the edges of the .png are white and jagged. I have tried select all/float/contract by 1/invert/delete but it doesn't work. Any suggestions on how to clean up the transparent image and the font so it doesn't do that would be appreciated.
