Can you tell me how to stop my crop tool from being preset from the last crop when I start a new crop? I want to start a new crop every time I need to crop without the preset lines. I believe I fixed this once but after having to do a re-install, it is set wrong again.

It's in your General Preferences
File -> Preferences -> General Program Preferences
Select Transparency and Shading from the left, and deselect "Automatically Display Crop Rectangle"
