Black and White previews no matter what

Hi,
anyone got any ideas as I get black and white previews no matter what I do.

I've tried MovieFactory ver 2 and ver 4.

My video (Sony) plays both PAL and NTSC tapes and I've tried it on all settings.

I've tried PAL and NTSC format videos.

I've tried changing all the NTSC and PAL settings on the software.

I've tried using the cable and the S video interface. Though my video only has a SCART output.

I'm using an EZmaker USB 2.0

No matter what combinations of the above I try, and believe me I've spent hours trying them all, I can only get previews and burning in black and white.

Can anyone help because I've just about had enough with this software.
