asGPS - google Maps problems

since a while I a have problems with asGPS and Google Maps - its not possible to load Google Maps - how can I solve this?
Or would it be possible to change the map to openstreetmap - does anybody know if the developer is still supporting the plugin?

Hi,

Google has changed the API, so that the usage without an API key (like in asGPS) ist not supported anymore. The use of an API key is connected to billing. I am looking into this, what options we can use.

Perhaps one would be to change to OSM, but I remember there have been problems some years ago, which led to disabling this possibility.
Another option would be to let you configure your own api key, use the free options or pay for only your Google api requests.
