Change chapters to menus?

Post by daniel »

Hi,

I'm not sure the best forum for this is VideoStudio or Movie Factory but it potentially concerns both.

I have always been frustrated by the inability to have layered menus with Ulead products if you don't want to shell maximum cash for DVD Workshop.
I had been used to "unlimited" levels from Roxio's EZDVD Creator 6 (DVD Builder) from years ago, and the same possibility from Sonic since at least MyDVD 5, so I'm truly deeply disappointed that otherwise larlegy superior programs like VS8/9 or DMF 3 and 4 can't do such a basic and trivial thing.
Today I'm using VS9 for editing, then import the MPEG files into Sonic's MyDVD 5.5 for burning. But MyDVD has a fixed layout of 3 + 3 buttons per page, and I like to place/resize my buttons like MF4 can do.

Now practically I'm not asking for 99 levels and I would be already happy to trade the chapters as produced by Ulead's programs for a second menu level. The difference being, chapters can't return to menu page when played but continue to next chapters.

I personally don't need no steenkin' chapters so I thought maybe someone here knows a way to edit the produced DVD folder and change the chapter points into menu pointers.
I'm remembering of never-used utilities like VOBedit or IFOedit that are wandering on the web.
Any pointer for this?
Could such a thing read the output from MF4 or VS9 and change the chapters into real menus, returning to chapter/menu page after playing a clip with minimum frustration?
