Offering to pay someone to write a bespoke batch job for me.

Post by bdfoto »

I am looking for someone to write a specific piece of Paint Shop Pro batch process software please.

The input files to the batch job will be IMG_nnnn.jpg or _MG_nnnn.jpg and will not necessarily have consecutive numbers, but they will be in the right order.

The output files must be in the same order as the input files, leaving the original images in the original directory, putting the new files into a sub-directory, and naming them 01.jpg, 02,jpg, 03.jpg consecutively at 72 d.p.i. and at the same pixel dimensions as the input, (I currently shoot at 5472 x 3648 pixels), in random mixed landscape and portrait format. So, if there are, for example, 45 files in the input list, the output files must be numbered 01.jpg to 45.jpg inclusive. If there are, for example, 58 files in the input list, then the output files must be numbered 01.jpg to 58.jpg inclusive.

There will never be more than 99 files.

This must work on Paint Shop Pro X8 on Windows 10 and all current later versions. If you can make it work on X2 (which I use on my back up Windows 8 laptop) as well please, that would be a bonus but not essential. Any takers please?

I am offering to pay someone to write this for me.

Thank you

I can do this, and without money. Copying files with new names after a quick sort routine is pretty easy.

But, you can just use the built in Batch Process command. It's easy,

1) File -> Batch Process
2) Add images, any images added should be put into proper order though _IMG may appear at thee front of the order
3) Skip "Batch Actions" and go straight to "Output Settings"
4) To be safe the Destination Folder setting should be set to "New" and the location defined
5) Under Filename choose "Rename" and hit the "Modify" button on the far right of the textbox
6) A dialog will pop up select "Sequence" from the list on the left and hit the "Add" button. You will see in the "File rename formatter" box "Sequence01" with an example output of "01"
7) Hit OK to return to the batch process
8 ) Under Filename conflicts I prefer to be prompted but this shouldn't matter as we're going in sequence.
9) Under File Format choose the output format, I'm assuming .JPG. This will run the images through the JPG filesave routine and will change the size on disk (pixel dimensions remain the same though) so make sure to hit the "Options" button to change the compression to a level you would like to see
10) Hit Start

PSP should handle the rest.

If I write a script for PSP it will only fit the very narrow parameters listed here and won't have any of the other functionality. But it will also be a direct copy of file to file with just a new name so no resaving with a different compression level. Heck could probably do this with a Windows batch file then it wouldn't matter if you were using PSP or not.

Hi

@LeviFiction thank you for guiding me through this, and I apologise for the slow response. I have been extremely busy.

That works perfectly and I am extremely grateful to you.

Thank you once again
