Separate versions on two machines?

Post by Gra »

Hi Guys
It's been a few years. It's my first visit back to this board since I was with MediaStudioPro...

After MSP, I moved over to PremierPro, but I've recently bought VS2018 as a back-up programme (you never know what Adobe's going to do next...) I do a lot of work abroad and I was thinking of loading a copy of VS on my PC here and a copy on my PC in my other office. Is this possible, or is it one license per machine? I've been searching, but I can't obviously see the answer on Corel's site.

Regards,
Gra
Thanks & regards.

Hi
As far as I am aware we can only install Video Studio on one machine according to the EULA, unless given compensation from Corel.
https://www.corel.com/en/eula/?hptrack=mmftr
The EULA is a bit confusing as is all documents of that type, most other programs allow us to install on two machines provided we use one at a time.
Video Studio for some reason, maybe Codec licencing only allows for one install.
How Corel police that is another matter and I am sure many do install on more that one machine.

Installing Video Studio 2018 on a second machine will ask that we input our registration details again, that is new to 2018, at least that’s what I experienced, so Corel are continually updating the registration procedure.

So yes “one license per machine”

Hello,

Can either of you help me with a similar question? I've just had to reinstall VS Ultimate 2018 on a new pc with a lot more memory. Corel said that would be fine and gave me an installation key. They asked me to uninstall the first version once I'd transferred the programme which I did.

All went well until I tried to import my existing projects (VSP files). They simply won't appear, although they are stored in a folder called My Projects on my new pc. I can't see what I'm doing wrong, unless you are simply not allowed to use old projects on a new pc.

Any constructive suggestions would be gratefully received!

Hi
What happens when you try to open the vs, any error messages
Does the project name change, shows top right, maybe showing 0.0, something like that?

Make sure that the new installation is installed to the same version, that the same service patch is installed.
