Hi guys, hope everyone is ok.
Here I am with a question about tracking and the effect.
I want to film a model steam locomotive passing from left to right and would love to somehow have smoke and steam coming from it's chimney.
Never used 'track motion' but would this be how I achieve the desired effect and if so any tips on how to go about it please?
Cheers
Mike

It would probably be easier to fit the model with a smoke system - model train shops have those (I get one from a train shop to use in my model battleship) - and just video it normally when travelling/smoking.
But failing that, having recorded the train travelling on the track, you would need an object (like an arrow, pointing finger etc) which is the smoke trailing from a source eg engine smokestack. Use track motion to attach a 'tracker' to the imagery of the train (specifically, the smokestack) travelling on the track, then import the object to an overlay track relevant to that clip, select it using rt click, click on 'match motion' from the list: which should attach the object to the tracker and follow the motion of that object in the main clip: train smoking whilst travelling on track.
There are several good tutorials in the learning space of the corel site on this topic.

This one is to blur an object - eg a face or a brand logo - https://learn.corel.com/tutorials/motio ... studio-x8/
This one is about attaching a text object to a moving item in a clip - specifically, text attached to a zamboni motoring around smoothing the ice at an ice hockey rink - https://learn.corel.com/tutorials/motio ... e-objects/

just a smoke will not do,MikesMovies wrote:Many thanks, looks like a big job of work, I need to get a clip of smoke first lol.
you will need "the" smoke. just look on any real steam train clip and that is the smoke you are after.
