Using Save

Post by Shepdog1 »

Suppose you have a project that will take 4 days to complete. After each day, you click Exit and when it asks if you want to Save, you click "Yes." Or should you choose Save before you Exit?
Is this all you need to make sure your project is safe until you are done and ready to Share it? Or should you use Save As, too?
Thanks to all- -

You need to save on a regular basis, go to Settings/Preferences and ensure that " Automatic save interval" is checked, then enter a time interval for automatic saving.
Also, manually save you project at frequent intervals and use " Save As" so you can save with a different sequential name, ie, Shepdog001, Shepdog002 etc
Saving only once a day is not a good idea and you could lose everything if something goes wrong

I will add that not only to save as different versions progress but to save it also to different folders and media.

Develop the habit of hitting the short cut; CTRL - S after making an addition or change. You never know when the system may freeze of crash on you. My version of VS is usually very stable, but one day I started mucking around with a Fast Flicks project I created. The system started to freeze up on me but rather than investigate the cause or start again, I pushed on since I was close to completion. After every change/addition I would hit CTRL-S. The system would eventually freeze but when I restarted VS I was able to continue working from my last change. I was able to render the final video but won't be using that project again.
