Fixed: Pixelated/Poor Quality Render

Post by enlighten_me »

I fixed a frustrating problem, so I thought I'd share it here for anyone else who's looking for a solution - note that your quality issue could be a different cause. Using Videostudio 2018

My 4K videos were rendering pixelated in appearance, but I noticed the overlay videos and text were rendering nicely - it was just the main video. I noticed the quality in the smart proxy clips had the same pixelated look. I cleared all the smart proxy files from the Smart Proxy Queue Manager, and the video renders fine now.

This is an annoying bug however, because it means I have to render everything first at a lower quality 1080p to make sure everything is good, then delete the Smart Proxy files (which usually take a long time to create), then render again in 4K.

This is a well known issue (see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=64008).

No you don't, rather simply untick "Enable Smart Proxy"; render as 4K; and tick "Enable Smart Proxy" and resume editing.
