Upgrading... old version has Color Efex Pro

Hello!

I have an older version of PSP (X4) and am thinking of upgrading but my current version came with Color Efex Pro 3. I use it mainly for removing color cast. I know that this can be done via white balance etc. but I prefer using this one click addon. Is there some other way I can get this ability in PSP 2019 aside from adjusting white balance etc.?

1.Do not uninstall X4. You can install PSP 2019 without any conflicts with PSPX4 and even run both at the same time.

2. With X4 open go to File > Preferences> File Locations > Plugins and look for where the Nik Collection is installed
For me on 2019 it is
C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection
3. Copy that location
4. With PSP 2019 open follow the same procedure File > Preferences > File Locations > Plugins and on the right of the dialog Click Add.
Now you can paste that location you copied at the top or navigate to that folderand then click OK.

Well, I purchased the 2019 version and the Nik collection does not work with it. I've tried a variety of things to get it to show up under plugins, but though I am referencing it in file locations it doesn't show. From what I read you now have to purchase it to get it to work. I mainly used the automated color cast removal tool. I'm gonna miss that.

That's strange. It certainly works with my 2019. Can we assume you still had the "old" (i.e. free) version of the Nik collection installed somewhere on your computer before installing 2019? Does it still work with earlier versions of PSP? Or did you uninstall your "old" Nik and download the new version from the new owner's website?

In my case, and like hartpaul, I installed the free version some time ago, and had it working with earlier versions of PSP. When I installed 2019 I simply pointed File Locations to my Nik folder as usual, and it worked immediately, and continues to do so.

Yes I kept the old version. Because my last version was so old it appears the "white balance" option under enhance photo does just what I need. So its not really an issue now. Ü

I beg to differ, but it might depend on how old your copy of the Nik Collection might be. My computer shows that I have it installed in C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection. Each filter (Color Efex, Define, etc.) has its own sub-folder containing 32bit filters dated June 2015 and a separate folder with the 64bit filters dated March, 2017. I have both my 32bit and 64bit PSP 2019 programs pointed to that Nik Collection folder, and the filters work in both versions. These were the Nik Collection files I downloaded when Google offered them for free.

My apologies . You learn something new every day. Discovered that I had the path to Nik Collections in my 32 bit File Locations but not in my 64 bit File Locations. I had always assumed that when you physically added one to the 32 bit file location that if it was compatible with the 64 bit then it would appear there. But no you must add it to the File Locations > Plugins for both 32 and 64 bit versions.
