My VS pro X10 not accepting my project from Pro 2018
My worst nightmare. My C drive died, went dead. Luckily it was backed up. But my VS X8 and Pro 2018 was gone, and so much else. So I replaced them both with a new VS X10. On X10 I hit "open project" and found the project I was last working on. When I selected it, it did nothing. Selected it again and it started downloading (bright green horizontal bar moving). When it finished it did not appear on the timeline, no where. A small window appeared saying it could not read it, that it was a file "miss match". But I have successfully opened it countless times when on X8 and more recently on Pro 2018. Also having trouble importing library. Waiting now 4 hours, perhaps crashed. What to do? Regard, MIke

Unfortunately, VS is not backward compatible, whilst you can open a VSX10 vsp file in VS2018 the reverse is not true, you cannot open a VS2018 .vsp file in VSX10
Open your VS2018 .vsp file, then select Save As, then change "SAve as Type" and from the drop down menu, select Corel VideoStudio X10 Project Files vsp
You will of course need to reinstall VS2018

Log into your Corel account and download your VS2018, then reinstall. If any issues, contact Corel Support - they are understanding that crashes happen...it di to me last month!

Hi Guys
I do have a problem in saving 2018 vsp as backward compatible for X10
Projects do not open using x10, however if I save for X9 then the project does open using x10
Mike if you can attach your VSP to your post we can open and save as X9, return the vsp which should open using x10.

Thanks Trevor. Hmmm but to get it to this post. Do think if I just did a copy/paste from my C hard drive it would still contain its contents. Will try.
No... it did not paste. Is there another way? Mike

Mike, you will need to upload the .vsp file to a sharing site like Dropbox or similar, then post the link here

Hi
You can try this trick
Rename the VPS to use the extension .txt
Then attach to your post
We can download, rename to vsp, open in 2018.
We do not need to see the content nor 're link, simply save for x9

Hi, I must confess that at age 76 I still know nothing about social media things like drop box and posting. If possible could you give detail instruction on how I do this. For me posting means going to postoffice and mailing it. You also say replace extention, you mean replace VSP with TXT. And contents not personal. Sorry I need to be hand led in this. Mike

Hi Mike
Locate the VSP using windows explorer saved on your folder, first create a copy then rename the copy to use .txt
Remember to use a full stop .txt
mikes project.VSP
mikes project - Copy.VSP
mikes project - Copy.VSP.txt
To attach to your post, there is s useful post here

Mike i have sent you an e-mail.
If you use that to reply you do not need to rename the vsp.

Re: My VS pro X10 not accepting my project from Pro 2018
Thanks Trevor, but after trying many times I could not get my project to appear in this window following directions for uploading attachment exactly. I think my file is too big for emaiing to you directly with email limit at 25 mg . My project is in two parts, a and b. A is 47 mg and b is 67mg. What to do? Today I plan on trying to get Corel to unload for me another VS 2018 since I just recently bought one before my C drive crashed and took it down with it. Can't understand why its so difficult to get these two files to you. Regards, Mike

Mike
If you have lost the 2018 download program files you can always download again.
If you have lost the Web installer, thats a file approx 10 Mb you can always use the one provided for the trial of 2018.
Go to Corel .com and download the trial, think of the web installer as a Download manager / installer
Run that and insert your serial number and the full program files will download and install 2018.

Got it! It turned out that the very first reply to this topic worked the best. Our Australian friend Robert had written something that looked interesting. So, regretfully, it took until now to try it. I tried it... and it worked perfectly. I guess I had over looked it because I did not know about that "drop down menu he mentions." It was perfect.
So... a big thank you to both you guys, Trevor and Robert... for in the end the first reply was spot on. Regards, Mike
