Use the Tab key - it will go to Preview Style, Reset and then to the hidden Send and Close - hit the Enter key then to accept.

@oldgreek

Yes, we have reported the issue and it will be solved.

Reason is that you use a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. If you had another monitor resolution, it works fine.

Thanks for the tip with using Tab key, hartpaul.
I work for the Corel UK Support. I will not give technical support through this forum and my answer is only related to this thread.

Hello,
I have the same problem on my Windows 10 laptop with the fullHD video resolution for laptops (1920x1080)!
Where can I find a manual about the PicToPainting plugin?
Not only the hidden Save and Exit button is a showstopper, but also the possibility to change to another Paint Style:
Clicking (1x or 2x with mouse) on the example image of choice, does not bring the focus on the selected image.
And it does not activate the selected paint style. So, the PtP functionality stays on the Elephant (= paint style: Studio)
Also, scrolling through the Paint Style examples only goes one way (to the Right). So why is there als a white Left-arrow drawn over the example images?
Where can I find a Keyboard Shortcut list?
Is this program developed for Windows?
Is this program developed for use with a mouse (GUI)?

Friendly regards,
Rges

It is not complex enough to require a manual - choose the style, select the strength and then Preview and either reset or accept by clicking Send and Close . That's it.

Not only the hidden Save and Exit button is a showstopper, but also the possibility to change to another Paint Style:
You can also change to another paint style by clicking and dragging
Clicking (1x or 2x with mouse) on the example image of choice, does not bring the focus on the selected image.
And it does not activate the selected paint style. So, the PtP functionality stays on the Elephant (= paint style: Studio)
See above about click and drag
Also, scrolling through the Paint Style examples only goes one way (to the Right). So why is there als a white Left-arrow drawn over the example images?
The left arrow allows you to move to the left only after you have moved some spaces to the right.
Where can I find a Keyboard Shortcut list?
Too simple for a shortcut list - You can use Tab key to move between the sections Tab Locations are
1. X (top Right with square outline close),
2. Strength - use up and down arrows,
3. Preview Style,
4.Reset,
5.Send and Close,
6.Image Style - use left and right keyboard arrows and click the style

Is this program developed for Windows?
It runs on Windows through PSP 2019 64 bit and is a plugin.
Is this program developed for use with a mouse (GUI)?
You need a mouse to be able to select an image style - Tab keys and enter can be used for the rest - or you can use the mouse for all parts.

My reactions to hartpaul's answers:
hartpaul: "You can also change to another paint style by clicking and dragging"
My reaction: That does not work in Windows 10. Clicking and Dragging with the mouse will result in the whole window of PicToPainting-plugin to move around on my laptop screen!
hartpaul: "The left arrow allows you to move to the left only after you have moved some spaces to the right."
My reaction: The white left arrow does not respond in any case, after whatever horizontal amount of 'spaces' I tried.
I now found out how to choose a Paint Style: I must use the right white arrow (mouse clicking) or keyboard arrow to scroll the desired paint style example on to the first or second position from the right-side of the plugin-window. When I click on the first (or second) image on the right, that one will be selected for previewing etc. (the other image positions are inaccessible/insensitive to mouse-clicks).

Please, hartpaul, send a RequestForChange message to the Corel programming team to repair this half-baked plugin, so it will work properly in Windows 10. Get Corel back into the twenty-first century.

Friendly regards,

How does the Pic-to-Painting plugin differ from Painter Essentials?
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

@ehume - Method and the total number of options/tools is the difference. Pic-To-Painting uses a Machine Learning (Deep Learning) Neural Network Style transfer (My assumption is the DiscoGAN style, though CycleGAN might also work) to create a new photo in the style of an input impage.

Painter Essentials is a trimmed down version of Painter, a realistic art media painting program that lets you paint with simulated paint and will attempt to recreate your image with semi-randomized brush strokes and default simulated brushes using sampling of the underlying image to do an "auto-painting"

@rges - this plugin works for most people. Windows 10 itself has nothing to do with it. The plugin opens PicToPainting.exe a stand-alone program that itself opens a programmable brower called electron that itself runs pre-compiled python programs to do the style transfer. What you're interacting with is a webpage. Now, I can't tell you why you're having so many issues. I have no issues at all on either my laptop or the tablet I use at work both running Windows 10 64-bit. I can use both the left and right arrows on the style selection slider without issue. Both the left and right arrow keys on my keyboard will activate it as will pressing the left and right arrow symbols on the slider itself. If you're having issues, I'd report it to Corel yourself as it would appear to be something specific to you.

Pictopainting just freezes

Post by mellex »

Hey all --
So just upgraded and got the few freebie addons, including pictopainting. Windows 7. But when I try to use it, I pick an effect and hit "preview" and then it just hangs with the spinning 'loading' icon and never does anything else -- except crash the entire program... :/ ???

I experience the same problem...

With a picture selected and active in PSP Pro 2019:
...I fire the PicToPainting app,
...choose the picture effect (step 1),
...hit the (step 2) preview and it just runs forever without showing me a result.
---same thing if I hit the Send And Close (step 3) button.

Am I missing something?
Is there a special setup to do to make this work?

Hi

To the user who encountered Pic-to-Painting cannot work well, I would like to highlight "Pic-to-Painting" plugin only support "Windows 10" system due to the "AI" engine limitation. You can get the HW spec for reference from https://www.paintshoppro.com/en/product ... tech-specs

Great news Josephlin, that's not completely accurate. :D Or it is but thanks to iraisok willingly testing every insane idea that popped into my head we have a potential workaround. At the very least, it worked for him.

Technically, it is true that on a Windows 7 machine the tensorflow library fails to load. Unsure as to why because Google claims Tensorflow can work on WIndows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10. But thankfully an older version of tensorflow, version 1.5 to be exact, can be substituted in order to get the plugin working.

And it's really easy! :D

We just replace the tensorflow folder in the nnart app library folder with an older version.
