What the best way to reduce noise in an image using X8 or a low cost alternative?

Post a cropped sample at least 500 x 500 showing what you want removed. You will get a stack of answers on what is best way of removing noise, plenty of free and paid alternatives and also methods in PSP.

Noise reduction is very subjective. Just remember that as you reduce noise you reduce detail. So there is always a compromise.
PSP's noise reduction is 'ok' but I find DeNoise better for my needs.

In PSP Digital Noise Reduction provides the most control, but I too prefer Topaz Denoise plugin.
