It would make your problem easier to understand if you put all your screenshots in order in a single document and then shared it on a file sharing site such as DropBox.

Hi
A lot of work there, it would have been better to add all images to the same doc.
Ok
Attachments 1,2,3 ok
Attachment 4 / 5
Does the panel show like that, as your image? With a white background.?
With the Back Next to the lower left, I see those to the lower right?

Attachment 5
Please change the download location to D\CorelVS2018\ ---As attachment 7
If you use the desktop default location all files will be downloaded again?

Web installer does appear to be accessing internet as it shows the Service Pack 3 as being required.

Attachment 6
Task Manager is correct, you are viewing the Web Installer as 32 bit
That is not the Video Studio program.

Attachment 7
Is correct, the Ultimate folder contains the programs installation files.
But not fully installed as Ultimate until the Bonus Features are installed.
If you feel there may be a conflict with 32 bit, move that folder out of the CorelVS2018 folder.
Now add the web installer, the 10mb file to the CorelVS2018 folder.
Run from there, don’t know if that will change anything?

Attachment 8
Can you confirm that you are NOT double clicking the Setup.exe within the Ultimate folder?

As you have installed to the laptop, do those panels look the same as running on desktop?

typical view of web installer

Hi Trevor,

Good idea re the Dropbox. Here is a link for all the jpgs in a word docx if you still need it:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zqyp17id7tocs ... .docx?dl=0

Re your questions:

Attachment 4/5 - Yes, the With a white background and with the Back Next to the lower left. You do see them to the lower right, but on my pc, they are in white on the left.

Attachment 5 - Unfortunately, as soon as I click on the 'Next' button on Attachment 4, it proceeds to Attachment 5, but does not allow me to click on anything. I do try and click, but the grey moving bar appears to bee downloading, but in fact, that is all that happens, and I have to abort.

Attachment 7 - I have just moved the 32bit out of the CorelVS2018 folder, the 10mb file was already under the CorelVS2018 folder. I have just run the VideoStudio2018_Installer.exe, and again have the same result as in my attachments.

Attachment 8 - I just right click and open the Setup.exe and have the same result as in Attachment 8.

I did not fully install the CorelVS2018 on the laptop, I just ran the VideoStudio2018_Installer.exe and it gave me the correct screens (as in yours above), as i was just testing to see if it would replicate the same screens as on my pc, which it did not so seems ok on the laptop.

Regards
Danny

Hi Danny
First we cannot manually install the program by running the Ultimate\setup.exe that will give the error you see asking to run the Web Installer.

Installation of Video Studio has to be done using the 10Mb Web Installer.
However once the Main Program is installed we could install the other packs by running their appropriate .exe files.
Although we would normally allow the installer to complete the whole installation.

As the installer shows your panels as White with the Next / Back to the lower left it does appear to be a graphics problem. Then again I could be completely wrong.

Can you check that your pc has installed the latest graphic drivers?
Your monitor is set to view at 100%, I do not suppose that you have adjusted that to say 125%
Mind you I am better at explaining how to run Video Studio rather than sort computer issues.

Hi Trevor,

I have checked my graphics drivers and they are all the latest.
I wish I could install Video Studio using the 10mb Web installer but it won;t let me (b/w screens).
Monitor is at 100%.

Hi Trevor,

I think that we can say that this is not a Corel problem and that I will have to look elsewhere to find the solution.

I tried the following (not Corel related):

Windows 10 - Settings - Accounts - Family & other people - Add someone else to this PC

and came up with screen on page 1 of the attachment.

Page 2 of the attachment shows what should happen.

Hi Danny

Not sure what you are saying by adding another user to your pc, although has worked to cure installation issues, but that was before using the Web installer and with Windows 7
Windows 10 seems different requiring an e-mail for that user, just added security.

If you view Settings - Accounts - Your Info, does it show you as being an Administrator?
If not then that may be the problem as I think admin has to be used to install the program.

You could try running the web Installer ( 10Mb file) by right click – Run as Administrator

Hi Trevor,

I have tried running the exe file as an Administrator, but no luck.

Interestingly, I have re-installed VSX7, and from the attachment, you can see that everything has gone well.

This is indeed puzzling.

Hi Danny

The problem is with the Web Installer file and not the actual installation.
After X8, Corel started using the Web Installer I guess in a bid to combat piracy.
We can no longer manually install the program it has to be done using the 10Mb file.
Think of it as a download / installation manager.
We have to confirm the serial number to prove we own the program before we can actually download the installation files., you are not getting that far.

You could run the Web Installer on the laptop, choose to download only would get the installation files without installing. But they would be the same as the Zip file you received from Corel
I don’t think using those on the desktop will change anything.

Certainly it does appear to be your pc environment unfortunately I just do not know what that can be.

What browser are you using as default, you could try using another browser.
I assume that the Web Installer uses the default browser to connect to the internet.
I have used most browsers to test and not had any problems, although I do not use Edge

I think another talk to Corel Support is on the cards.

Hi Trevor,

I have used Chrome and IE with the same results.

I agree, I will talk to Corel support. They are based in India and sent me an email yesterday that they had called me twice but couldn't get through. The reason was that they had omitted a zero from the beginning of the number. Just nonsense, as they had called me before successfully.

Thanks again,

Danny
