Video Studio Ultimate Installation Problem

Hi,

I have bought the Video Studio Ultimate 2018 online and downloaded the exe file.
When I run the exe file on my pc, installation hangs and I have created screenshot in the attached jpgs. The outline in the screenshots does not contain the expected black/green borders 9which is what was on the laptop installation i.e. https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/articles/216200848).
I then tried to install the exe file on a separate laptop and it works ok.
I need to install it on my pc, not my laptop.
Any ideas?

Hi

I have deleted the word document from your post as i can identify your serial number.

What happens if you select the Main Program only, then choose Download only.
You may have to re-enter your e-mail address when trying to install to the desktop as you have i assume installed to the laptop.
We are only allowed to install on one machine, not a problem and should install to desktop, but i think there will be a check?

If you have managed to download to the Laptop are you able to move the Main Program files to the desktop
Then try installing only the Main program?

Thanks for deleting the doc, I tried to scrub out the serial number but obviously failed.

The problem is that when I get to the screen (last screenshot in my word doc), all the boxes are ticked already and it appears to be installing (the light grey rectangles flicker from left to right). They are after the "Do not download installed modules again" tick box. Wherever I click, it just ignores my clicking and continues to flicker.

I didn't install it on the laptop, I just started the exe file to see if i would get a difference to the pc, which I did.

I suspect it must be some setting that is prohibiting the normal screens I should see. I tried the exe file in Internet Explorer and Windows Edge, but still the same result.

Hi Danny

The last image on the word doc shows in plain text, so no green buttons but is easy to read.
Are you saying this is how the last screen displays for you?

Can you change the default “Download Location” to another location on your pc.
Deselect all options except Main Program
Then try “Download only”
The process should start with Verify, then download the main file which is saved in this folder
Your download Location folder ---\64bit\Ultimate

Laptop
You can move that folder from the laptop to the desktop and should install the main program only
All other folders can be moved
Again the process will start with Verify – then should install provided the files exist.

Apologies for my radio silence, I have been away.

With regard to your suggestion re the "Deselect all options except the Main Program, then try "Download Only"', - I cannot do this as on this screen I cannot click anywhere. When I try to click on the "main Program" it doesn't do anything and doesn't allow me to click any of the check boxes. The only way to stop this (and I have let it run overnight to no avail), is to shut it down via Task Manager.

I have been in touch with Corel, who even had access to my screen remotely and eventually told me to download the ISO file. Unfortunately, this ISO file is 8gbytes, so cannot fit onto a normal DVD.

On the laptop, I haven't installed the software yet, I just let it run past the first 4 installation screens, which are correct according to the corel webpage. But this doesn't happen on my pc, I just get the screens in my attachments, so it leads me to think that there is some setting on my pc which is different to the laptop.

Corel had twice promised to call me, and eventually did (after a few weeks), as the previous guy has left. This has been so frustrating and I have yet to be able to VisiualStudio Ultimate.

One anomaly - when I downloaded the VisualStudio_installer.exe, and ran it, then had to abort it. in Task Manager is showed a 32-bit installer, whereas my pc is 64 bit. I told Corel this, and they assured me that the file I downloaded was correct.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

First off, I'm not sure why you are now calling the program 'VisualStudio' when before you were using the correct VideoStudio. FYI Visual Studio is a Microsoft program completely unrelated to video.

As for your ongoing problem, have you actually downloaded that 8 GB ISO file? If not, you should do so as Windows 10 has a new feature which actually allows you to access the contents of an ISO file without burning it to a disc. The process is called 'mounting' and Win 10 creates a virtual disc drive which, in File Explorer, shows you the contents of the disc, and allows you to run the setup file it contains. In other words, you should be able to set up VS from the ISO mounted on your PC this way. For full details have a read of https://www.windowscentral.com/how-moun ... windows-10

Yes, VideStudio not VisualStudio.
I did download the iso file and have mounted it, and tried to run the VideoStudio_2018_Ultimate.exe, but I still get the same results as in my earlier attachments.
I am at a loss as to why this does not install on my pc, but does install on my laptop.

Unfortunately the screen shots you refer to were part of the word doc that I removed which showed your serial number? So if you can provide those it may help?

Cleanup 2018
If the installation has been corrupt for whatever reason running the cleanup tool may help.

download the 2018 version and run, it will probably say no program installed, but run it anyway?

It does appear to be a problem with your desktop given that the laptop works ok.

As Corel have tried remote access to fix this, strange they did not succeed?

Your 8 Gb zip file at that size will contain both 32 bit and 64 Bit programs, easily identified in their own folders.
If mounting the file does not work you should be able to extract its content to folders on your hard drive. (installation files folder)

I would then download the trial version, that will download the latest Web Installer at 10 Mb

Save that to the same installation files folder.
Running the trial Web Installer file will allow you to insert your serial number, you will not be installing the trial.
Are you able to do that?
On the page that allows us to select the Main program, I assume this is where things stall?
Now “Please choose a folder for downloads”
Navigate to your installation folder containing the 64 bit folder.

During the installation process the installer will be accessing the internet, I assume this is the problem, maybe your virus program blocking internet access, unfortunately just clutching at straws
As Corel have done the remote access then they should have identified that?

Attached are my screenshots which I have just redone. (in 2 attachments 1st = Pages 1-4, second = pages 5-9).

I tried out all your suggestions, but to no avail. I tried:

1. Cleanup 2018
2. Corel did have access but did not succeed, the last thing they said was to download the iso file, which I did.
3. I downloaded the trial version, switched off my anti-virus and ran it. Same result as in the attached pdf.
4. I copied from the ISO drive the file to my hard drive and ran the 64-bit Ultimate setup.exe (page 7 of the attached). This just led me to page 8 and 9 of the attached, so back to square one.

I suppose it is something in my pc setup, but i cannot think of what it could be. I have never had this problem with installing software before.
