How do I change Video duration

Post by Neptune769 »

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to video editing. I'm trying to make my first video. I am using VideoStudio 2018 Ultimate on Windows 7. I'm not sure if the video duration is what my problem is. My example is, say I have a 5 min video clip. If I add a 3sec. title and then another title with a lot of text to run say 16sec. with fades in & out in between. My main video clip is cut by 19sec. Shouldn't the final video be 5:19 long? How can I increase the total video duration? Yet I can't get past 5min. I hope I'm explaining this right.

Thanks
Dennis

How are you doing the fade in and out bit - are you using transitions - when you add transitions - such as cross fade the two clips are overlapped - by the length of the transition - so adding two 3 second cross fades should reduce the total length of your project by 6 seconds

19 seconds is a funny number on such a short project - do you have more than the two crossfades and what length are they

you can do simple fade out fade ins if you put every thing in the overlay track and use the controls at the very bottom of the options panel (not available for clips in the top track)

I finally figured it out. Thanks. The 19sec was just an arbitrary number.
