Access Denied when extracting plugins in PSP2018

Post by Faye »

Hi I am new here and looking for help.
I am running Windows 10 and I use PSP2018 64 bit.
When extracting a plugin from WinZip to the plugin folder of PSP2018 I get Access Denied. That administrative privileges may be required.. :?:
I am the administrator..Yes it is set up that way on my computer.
Does anyone know why or can help me with this. :?:
Thank you
Faye

Starting with Windows 8 administrators all have common user privileges and anything requiring full admin privileges needs to be promoted. It's a security feature to prevent programs running undetected from running with full admin privileges and potentially damaging your systems. If you right-cllick on winzip and use "Run As Administrator" then you should be able to copy to any folder.

The best way, however, would be to create a plugins folder all your own, say in your Documents folder, and add it to the file locations inside PSP.

I had a similar problem with PSP 2018. I solved it as follows:

Went to 'File > Preferences > File Locations... Plug-ins.' Edited Look-In directory from '.../PlugIns/EN' to '/PlugIns.' Now you should be able to find plugins.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Thank you for this answer. I was trying to add them directly into the program in the plugin folder. I do know the way you told me about. Sometimes the plugins will not work by doing that. Thank you again. I am very appreciate that you took the time to help me.
