Actually, I'm not sure that your mention that Tensorflow 1.5 "will allow v.1.1 to work for some of us" is completely accurate. Unless I've missed a post from others, so far it seems that you are the only person who has reported that you need that Tensorflow 1.5 version to get PicToPainting v.1.1 to work. Nobody else has reported any need for it. So I haven't seen anything - yet - to show any "some" or "us", but only "one" and "you". But I do stand to be corrected.

You are correct that no one yet has come forth other than myself. I’m assuming a few things.

1. I was first to report my problem. Levi came forth with determination and knowledge, my willingness and concern to run his tests as he did NOT have an issue) to determine that Tensorflow 1.5 with PTP 1.0 allowed PTP to work for me, my issue, my cfg vs Corel s/w design.
2. Shortly after our successful post, a few other individuals reported the same exact symptom that was resolved with TF 1.5.
3. Corel used same TF version in PTP 1.1 as they did in PTP 1.0.
4. Changing to TF 1.5 solved same symtpom in PTP 1.1 as with PTP 1.0
5. Yep, I’m drawing a conclusion based on my experience.
6. Would you like to run a test to see if there is any issue for you if you simply run with TF 1.5. Very easy to try, you would just rename one folder then copy in another to take its place? I can get to you. I’ll bet you’d have no problem running with it.
7. If you must see many other posts sharing same path to success, that might not happen. Some people don’t post as we do.

Now the big question - a new topic that is worthy of a new post - How valuable is having Pic_To_Painting in PSP. I consider PTP cutesy, fun to fool with but “in the noise” for how I use PSP. I personally have not found an image that when processed with PTP I’d consider keeping or sharing with anyone else. Funny but true.
Conclusion: it could be risky to include plugins that only work for some. Could lose sales. For me it would not. I just like most everything to work. I thing PSP is fantastic without PTP but mine works too!

I was reluctant to upgrade to PSP 2019. I never realized PTP was included maybe because I never looked below in the Welcome screen where you click to d/l it as I had to discover for the PTP 1.0 update in PSP 2019 that I just accepted and had to again mipodify to work for me. As mentioned in my last post PTP is cutesy at best, not important for me and for what I use PSP to do.

As for 2018 vs 2019, no big improvement but I don’t see a need to return to 2018 either. No doubt each of our concerns and observations are based on how we use the s/w. I’m very happy with PSP 2019 as I was with PSP 2019. Don’t laugh too much, the last installed version was PSP 5.1 and never understood nor cared about layers. I can’t tell you how convenient it was to have PSP 5.1 in my “bag of tricks.” And so, I decided to graduate to 2018u and really dug into it. PSP with a few plugs, some I purchased, is a core application with a few other for certain activities.

One other person has responded in the affirmative on 1.1 not working for them. I am forced to wonder if they haven't slipped up in the packaging of the new version. They indicated new styles but none exist. So it's possible what changes they made with tensorflow also did not get bundled. Unless I'm just missing something.

They are indeed still using 1.7. However, there is a method by which they can self-compile tensorflow to include support for older CPUs. Tensorflow 1.5 was the last version that supported SSE commands over AVX commands which are only available on newer processors but also faster. So if they recompiled tensorflow to supported the older command structure it shouldn't matter that they are using 1.7 instead of 1.5. But, only if we got the actual updated version. I would recompile 1.7 for this except for the tiny problem that I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. xD

If nothing else I had never once considered using Electron as a UI front end. And now Corel has shown me how much possibility that offers.

I'm the other person reporting that the new version doesn't work for me. I got the previous version working by replacing the Tensorflow folder with the download. As per the other thread, since the new version didn't work, I replaced the "new" Tensorflow folder with the downloaded Tensorflow folder as before (under C:\Program Files (x86)\Pic to Painting\resources\app\app\nnart\lib). Doesn't work. I am worse off.

That said, I don't know why Corel would even bother making this program. FilterForge does the same thing but much better, with tools that can be used to not only fine-tune a preset, but to create your own. And, FilterForge actually works.

ehume - No, I can't redistribute it. We may have gotten it for free with 2019, but they are selling it for $30 on the Get More tab with 2018. I didn't properly read the EULA but I'm assuming there is a no sharing clause because of this.

JCBrown - FiterForge uses the old standard way of making a drawing/painting from an image. A set algorithm of filters and effects piled on top of each other. This uses Machine Learning and Convolutional Neural Networks. They taught the computer to figure this out for itself. This ultimately means there are indeed fewer settings and adjustments to be made. it's kind of a one-trick pony. xD Still it's a very cool method. I believe it's called cashing in on the newest fad.

I'm afraid that I'm not about to run any tests which would require me to get and use TF 1.5. As I said, I never had the original PicToPainting v1.0 on my machine so also don't have TF 1.5. And when I decided to download the new PicToPainting v1.1 - given that issues previously complained about were said to be fixed - it installed on my Windows 8.1 machine with PSP2019 64 bit with no issues whatsoever and works flawlessly. So I don't intend to monkey with it in any way on the off chance that doing so might put me in the position that you and one other person found yourselves - and his doesn't even work now with TF 1.5!

So the TF 1.7 that this new version of PicToPainting comes bundled with works for me just fine. And, as I previously said, I can only guess that perhaps the issues you and the other person experienced are somehow system specific, and perhaps system specific with Windows 10 on some machines but not all machines. If we get other reports of the new PicToPainting not working on machines with operating systems that are not Windows 10 then I will have to re-guess.

Same results when tried in my VMplayer Win 10 Pro where I mentioned I did a fresh install of PSP2019u.

Levi, you might be correct. I know you realize the following but allow me to say for those who feel I and the few others who have had same problem... I am NOT the only person whose computer uses the same CPU as does mine. It’s up to Corel to experience enough complaints for them to care. I understand that.

I on the other hand find PicToPainting quite a useful tool. And as an Australian, I would, for instance, happily use this version of one of the stock photos which comes with PSP and with PicToPainting applied, as a greeting card... The colours may not please everyone, but they please me, which is the main objective of the exercise! (And I rather like the pinky mauve bits which take colours from another Australian "parrot" -- the galah!)

Always hearing from you. Hope all is well with you and yours. Thanks for sharing how you get good use from PTP. I shall consider that. So, yeah, when I dabbled with people images, I don't think they'd care for their new mauve look. Not to really change the subject but it would be kind of Corel if they included the FULL version of PhotoMarage. That's one that I always consider to uninstall because it does not save to mp4. I can get around it in a hokey manner, though.

I had applied the Tensorflow to only the 32bit part. When I did the 64bit part, it worked ok. Fine now.

Obviously, Corel has learned nothing from this.
