2019 Lens Correction Support??

Post by TwoRails »

I am currently using 2018 for jpegs only as on RAW photos, it's auto Lens Correction doesn't work for my camera, a Panasonic FZ 1000 and RW2 files. PSP recognizes the camera correctly but doesn't apply any lens correction. So I'm stuck with a fish-eye look with heavy black vignetting on the corners. So instead of taking a lot time trying to manually correct all the RAW files, I use one of my RAW editors instead. That means I don't use PSP much, but I'd like to.

Is this corrected in 2019? If so, I'll upgrade, if not, I might as well stick with 2018.

Thanks.

You say you are getting black vignetting on the corners. Are you using a fish eye lens or a wide angle lens? Are you also using a lens hood not meant for that wide angle lens?
Can you post a cropped screen shot showing the raw thumbnail and the jpg thumbnail of the same image. (presuming you can take Raw + jpg images like my Canon MkIII.)

Hi hartpaul. It’s classified as a point-n-shoot camera and you can’t change lenses. It is a zoom lens (25mm – 400mm), though, and yes the effect is mainly at its wider angles. Yes, I shoot RAW+jpeg and naturally the camera applies lens correction over the entire zoom range to the jpegs. No, no lens hood used.

Attached is Paint Shop Pro’s lens correction dialog window showing identifies the camera, but no correction is applied. Maybe I’m missing a setting?...

I have multiple editors and all the others do a good job of lens correction. The other attachment is of the same RAW file auto lens corrected in a different editor. No jpeg attached as it looks the same as this shot.

(on previewing this post, the attachments came out in reverse order...oh well.)

Just a hint for you and others who read this post. When posting multiple attachments, this forum posts the attachments by putting the images in descending order, starting from the last attached image posted, then the second last, etc. So the first image you post ends up at the bottom.

The only solutions is to post you image attachments in the reverse order in which you wish to have them shown in the forum.

Perhaps one of the mods can fix this un-intuitive behavior???
