Cannot "Save," "Save As," or "Copy File As," to .tiff

Post by CliffT »

When I use "Save, "Save As," or "Copy File As" to save a file to the .tiff file format, the file defaults to saving as a .pspimage file. As soon as I select the .tiff in "Save As Type:," the .pspimage file extension is added to the file name in "File name:" field. I have tried deleting the .pspimage from the file name but it still saves as a .pspimage file, even though .tiff is selected. I have no problem opening a .tiff file - only saving to a .tiff. Under File>Preferences>File Associations, the .tiff file is checked off. I have also reset the Paint Shop program without success in solving the problem. In the drop-down menu for selecting the "Save As Type:," .tiff is not in the group of file types above the dotted line, but appears with the same file types below the dotted line, if that means anything. I am using Paint Shop Pro 2018, build 20.1.0.15 x64. Thank you for you assistance.

Just loaded a jpg file into PSP 2018 64 bit and resaved as a tif. No problems
My version says 20.2.0.1 x64 so in light of yours being 20.1.0.15 x64 I believe you have an update to install and that may solve your problem. Can you download that and install and see if tyhat fixes your problem.

Thank you for your reply. I was able to resolve the problem by deselecting all the files under "Associate Files." Then I "reset dialog position and last used settings" and "Delete all catch files," using the "Reset the Application" under "preferences." This resolved the problem. I was unaware of the update that you mentioned, so did that too. The update made a significant improvement in my ability to save files. Again, thank you.
