This problem was posted on another forum, and I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what caused it. I don't have any more information.
"...there was a free copy of several Corel products (Photo-Video-Art Suite). I decided to check it out and downloaded it with the Keys provided. I began with Paint Shop Pro X9. As soon as I opened it, my display went nuts. The display had an identical double image, one clear on top, the other was a hazy, greyed out version of the upper, but it partially covered the upper images. There were two cursors. I deleted the program with great difficulty (it was nearly impossible to click on things since many selections were impossible to differentiate and then deciding which of the two cursors were effective). That didn't solve the problem. I then ran REVO uninstalled which searches for left over strings concealed in files. Again, no help. Finally, a trip to the Geek Squad and a full wipe of the hard drive and re installation of Windows 10 got it resolved. I suggest you consider installing these products carefully before putting them on your computer (this was an HP laptop). I lost all of my files including a boat load of photos that had not yet been backed up."

Hi Jerryc41 and welcome to the forum.
You didn't mention how you obtained the "free" software. Was it from a legitimate source bundled with a hardware purchase or downloaded from a dubious source?

Re: Installation Messed Up
And considering X9 is two versions ago and went through 4 updates I would suggest that if the problem you experienced were common there would be a lot more people complaining.
Other possibilities could include some virus but you cannot check for that since you have done a clean install.
If you had a boatload of photos then why were they not backed up. My photos are backed up twice on two separate hard drives before the day is finished. Sounds like you have had a number of problems made through bad decisions.
By free copies do you mean trials - that seems unlikely as you mentioned using keys. As well using X9 suggests that it was not a recent acquisition from Corel or one of its approved suppliers.
Have you tried the trial version from the Corel website as I suspect that you would have a better experience there. Even so might be best to do a clone of your C drive before any "dubious" installations and as you advise "consider installing these products carefully " - free products I mean.

This was posted by someone on a photography forum. Someone bought something from Adorama, and they included a download of a Corel program.Kathy_9 wrote:Hi Jerryc41 and welcome to the forum.

Re: Installation Messed Up
So, reading the link you posted, are you trying to sort this out for someone else, because the link says "I" bought some gear and you say "someone" but you used exactly the same text.
Is this your problem, or someone else's? Please clarify.

Re: Installation Messed Up
I don't believe there is a solution, and since they have already had their drive wiped, even if there was, it's far too late. I think that implying that Corel was at fault as the original post on uglyhedgehog implies is just silly.
