Hi,
I have been using PSP for years and currently use X9 (19.2.0.7). However, I've noticed over the last few months that text editing has gone weird. If I attempt to edit an existing text object which has text set via the kerning options to be close together then it goes really odd with massive gaps between words or letters just piling up on top of each other. I'm finding I'm having to delete the text object and create a new one when editing which is a pain. I've attached an example where "We hope you had" was the existing text object and I was trying to add "a good summer" with odd results. The Tracking is 0 and the Kerning is -67.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Phil

I cannot duplicate your setup to get your result
It looks like you are using a duotone blue white gradient for your text color. I set the kerning to -67 and also turned off auto kerning.
I typed in we hope you had applied the text and then saved as a pspimage file to allow further editing.
I closed PSP and then reopened it to simulate a later attempt to edit. (Some of these are assumptions on my part as you did not mention your full method).
I then double clicked the text to get the cursor, moved it to the end and continued typing. No problem.
The only way I could get the letters to run together was to change the kerning to a larger negative number.
If there is a bug in this tool for you you could try resetting just the text tool first.
Top left click the little down arrow beside presets and on the right, second down click the Reset to Default button. Close PSP and then try again.
If that does not work you can redo your steps and note them down step by step for others to try and duplicate.

Re: PSP X9 Text Editing Kerning Goes Beserk!
Thanks for the response! What I should have said is that it is when creating a new text object on a Vector Layer (e.g. creating a rectangle and then trying to put text on top of this). The text ends up being created above the rectangle and works fine, it's when you detach the object from the path and move the text on top of the rectangle it all goes wrong. However, I noticed a handy tip on the bottom of the screen telling me to use Alt+Click if I don't want the text on a path so I did that it all works fine - not sure why it took over 10 years to notice!
