Image Size For 720x576 DVD
What is the maximum image size for a 720x576 DVD which would not be cropped? (i.e. the 'safe area')
Gary, I have placed different size images in my projects and they have always autosized to the size of the project. The only time I have see cropping is when I did it myself in the pan/zoom filter. So I am not sure what the answer is, but have you tried large files that have been cropped?

Thanks for the responses guys. I've used a 640*480 jpeg in a 720*576 project for a DVD I was making. Looks fine in the preview window, but is obviously outside of the 'safe title area' on the preview.
Looks fine when I create an MPEG/AVI file, or play back on the PC once the DVD image/disc is done, but crops significantly when I play it back on a television. so was going to crop the initial image to fit the safe area.

Hi
The safe area is about 10 to 15 % of the viewing area.
If you are making a slide show create a black border around your images 10%.The actual image should view in full. The black border may be lost outside the safe area.
The black border looks good during transitions, flying boxes etc.
If you are using individual images during a video, you could try using the overlay track, there you can easily resize the image.
